The new Mummy has a few interesting changes...

Hit Dice: from 6d12+3 to 8d12+3
Initiative: from -1 to +0
Speed: lists #squares (so 20 ft, 4 squares)
Armor Class: from 17 to 20
Attack: from +6 melee to +11 melee
Damage: from 1d6+4 to 1d6+10
Face/Reach is now called Space/Reach
Special Attacks: same (although DCs will be higher based on HD, I wager).
Special Qualities: gained DR 5/-- instead of DR 5/+1; lost "resistant to blows".
Saves: 4/2/8 rather than 2/1/7
Abilities: Str 17->24; Dex 8->10.
Skills: Hide +8->+7; Listen +9->+8; Move Silently +8->+7; Spot +9->+8.
Feats: gained Great Fortitude

Despair save from DC 15 to DC 16
Mummy Rot save from DC 20 to DC 16. Also, healing will fail to work unless a DC 20 caster level check is successful. Much more interesting description here!

The Mummy Lord is fairly insane. :)

Cheers!

Dang

I like giving an example with class levels, the first thing it made me think of was what a Monk Mummy Lord or a Wizard Mummy Lord might look like.

I like that it lists where the monster's power comes from (CHA), but I don't understand the feat selection. Great Fortitude? Don't undead automatically resist most fort-related saves?

Seems like taking Ability Focus and Greater Ability Focus for its mummy rot would have been more prudent. DC 17 isnt very scary to a party fighting something with 10 class levels (How did I check this? Compare it to a monk's stunning blow at 10th level, DC 15+WIS, probably at least a DC 18 or 19).

Finally it didn't list the domain powers (the Death Touch of a Mummy Lord seems pretty deadly) anywhere, nor did it list a tactics section.

Overall, I'm pleased. But I hope some of that is addressed in the final book.

Technik

Incidentally, doing the calculations:

Hide: +7 = 7 ranks
Listen: +8 = 4 ranks +2 alertness +2 Wisdom
Move Silently: +7 = 7 ranks
Spot: +8 = 4 ranks +2 alertness + 2 Wisdom

Intelligence of 6, so -2 skill points/HD

What's the Skill points/HD for an undead? It seems to work out at 22 skill points - so that'd be Skill Points = (4+Int Modifier)*(HD+3).

Feats: 1 + 1/3HD gives a total of 3, which is what it has.

Cheers!

Hmmm, where is the mummy getting the extra slam damage from...? Otherwise, pretty interesting. DR vs all weapons, Fire Resistance & Vulnerability?

A'koss.

Before:

Str 17 -> damage 1d6+4 (3 * 1.5=+4)
Str 24 -> damage 1d6+10 (7 * 1.5=+10)

From it's increased strength, Akoss.

Cheers!
