Dang, all this time & I never realized they were two separate things - are you sure?

Well, taking innocents captive and disguising them as your party so the heroes come and kill them all before realizing what they've done is VERY fun, for example, but technically involves no torture.

Wait, "fun" in quotation marks isn't euphemism for sex? I'm pretty sure it's euphemism for sex.

Evil parties take people alive for torture, "fun", or a combination of the two.

That sentence read perfectly. Don't back out, Stream. What you're talking about is a group of evil adventurers kidnapping, abusing, and raping some random person. I've been DM'ing an evil game for some time now and my innocence is long gone. Why are my players doing this? Are they trying to give me nightmares? I had to change my mind on a lost baby quest and turn it into an exploding fake baby because they were talking about raping the baby. NOT COOL. I could write an Aristocrats joke off what they do on a regular basis.

A lot of people here are squeamish on the subject, even when it's characters meant to be repugnantly, irredeemably evil doing it. But I did actually have a more broad meaning of fun that just that. One of my evil characters kept a victim at 0 str and put her on strings, and liked to play with her like a marionette, using ventriloquism and everything and performing little skits. I suppose you could consider that torture, at least psychologically, considering how demeaning it was. But I have a hard time calling it so compared to the other crap that party did.
