Hi Anubis mate!

This question can't be answered if you don't tell us what system you use. The CORE system is as follows:
M - F Str +0
F - T Str +2
T - S Str +4
S - M Str +4
M - L Str +8
L - H Str +8
H - G Str +8
G - C Str +8
You already said you use Str +16 for each size increase after that, but do you use the core system for the previous sizes, as shown above? If not, give us your table. Personally, the core way of doing strength works PERFECTLY though and has NO flaws, so there is no reason to modify it.
Further numbers can be extrapolated easily. Str +16 for the next 8 sizes, Str +32 for the next 16 after that, etc. It works, so I think UK is WAY off on that one.
Using your above method a 615 mile tall humanoid could lift the planet Earth (thats almost 114,000 times its own weight).
While the WotC method looks very pretty; especially pre-medium size, it does have the major drawback of being completely nonsense.

If you want to be realistically accurate:
Size...Typical Weight...Lift (own Mass)...Lift Weight...D&D Str (based on Carrying Capacity, not damage)
Fine...0.048 lbs...x8...0.4 lbs...Str ?
Diminutive...0.39 lbs...x4...1.56 lbs...Str ?
Tiny...3.125 lbs...x2...6.25 lbs...Str ?
Small...25 lbs...x1...25 lbs...Str 2 (2.5)
Medium...200 lbs...x1/2...100 lbs...Str 10
Large...1600 lbs...x1/4...400 lbs...Str 20
Huge...12,800 lbs...x1/8...1600 lbs...Str 30
Gargantuan...102,400 lbs...1/16...6400 lbs...Str 40
Colossal...819,200 lbs...1/32...25,600 lbs...Str 50
Of course two other factors are Base Damage and Attack Rate.
Fine...Attack Round 0.375 seconds (16/1)...Damage 1/256
Diminutive...Attack Round 0.75 seconds (8/1)...Damage 1/64
Tiny...Attack Round 1.5 seconds (4/1)...Damage 1/16
Small...Attack Round 3 seconds (2/1)...Damage 1/4
Medium...Attack Round 6 seconds (1/1)...Damage 1/1
Large...Attack Round 12 seconds (1/2)...Damage 4/1
Huge...Attack Round 24 seconds (1/4)...Damage 16/1
Gargantuan...Attack Round 48 seconds (1/8)...Damage 64/1
Colossal...Attack Round 96 seconds (1/16)...Damage 256/1
eg. The Cave Troll in the Fellowship of the Rings movie was Large. It would attack every 12 seconds and deal x4 damage.
eg. A Brachiosaur could stomp twice and give a tail slap every 48 seconds dealing x64 damage.
Of course I am not necessarily saying you should adopt this rule, simply food for thought.
