Well, basically, if you like...Mask and you would both be from the Feywild.

They could have known each other for a time, or simply meet up on the path to the material plane...or anything in between. Would that fit into the background you have in mind?

Sure, why not? Maybe they're friends and escaped together?
Only thing is, I didn't get if you have a definitive version of Mask yet or you are still changing it... ?

Mask is definitively a wizard, with Pact Initiate in the fey pact.

I'll be putting up her sheet later today.

I think it'd be cool if they'd been friends. We should work that out. Since they're both arcane magic users, perhaps they studied under the same tutor...only with different foci. You being the warrior mage, and she being the more social/cranial sort. Then we could have a fun sort of rivalry going on. :)

I'm not sure how openly doppelgangers in the Feywild live. It may be that the fey folk don't share the prejudices of mortal beings (especially since shapeshifting is less strange there, and imitating appearances is often done via illusion magic anyway) and they can live as what they are. Maybe they have a little community and keep to themselves...maybe they live in the Feywild like they do in the prime plane and integrate into other races.

I don't really have a preference myself...either has good RP potential. What do you think?

Well... What if Mask was mostly disguised as an Eladrin, and was taken in years ago by Belleros' close family (upon his insistence) and hid his nature? They might have grown up as brothers of sorts, if that isn't too close a relationship to you, playmates as kids, fellows students of the arcane later.
How old is Mask? For now, Belleros is 25-30 years old, by human standard I'd say about 15-16...
I don't know what personality you had in mind, but I guess most dopplgangers do have a dark side and some drama because of their nature. Belleros is a bright, easy-going, sure of himself kind of guy so they might be complimentary in some way.

Well, first, Mask usually assumes female forms...but that doesn't change anything in this case.

Mask is young"ish," probably 19 or 20 and fresh out of apprenticeship. So she'd look older than Belleros, but is actually quite a bit younger. Of course, she could easily arrange to look young too, especially if she's masquerading as an eladrin. The doppelganger "race" isn't really defined in detail, so I've no data on how long they live and so on.

Mask's outward personality can change similarly to her appearance. Her 'true' personality is quiet and calm and thoughtful. She believes very much in proper preparation; in holding all the cards one can before acting, and in keeping a spare card hidden...just in case. She can be charming and flirty...but isn't above bullying to get her way, if the situation calls for it. In general, Mask like acting through others, even when she could probably do it just as easily. By persuasion, deception or less subtle methods, she gets a kick out of getting people to do what she wants. This is often misinterpreted as laziness by people who know her well enough to be aware of this quirk, but she's actually anything but.

All that probably sounds worse than it is too... We've all known people who's solution to things is usually summed up as, "Do you think you could fix that? Pleeeeeease?" That's pretty much what I'm getting at here. :)

Mask being adopted into the eladrin family?

That's an interesting twist...when do you think would be a good age? When Mask was very young? Older? Why did Belleros want to adopt her?

I can see several interesting possibilities here...

Mask could have been orphaned, possibly due to violence or accidental death of her parents, possibly just abandoned for reasons unknown. In this case, she herself doesn't really have any connection to her doppelganger heritage. She has no idea why she's different from everyone else she knows.

Mask could have run away from home for some reason, and lived on her own until befriended by Belleros. She convinced him by means of a sob story (which may be real or not) to take her into his family, or perhaps he came to that conclusion without prompting. In that case, Mask is aware of what she is, broadly speaking, though the deeper history and mythology of the doppelganger people she may not be very knowledgeable about.

A lot of it depends on how long she and Belleros have known each other. Do you have a preference about that?

I'll tell you the image I had in mind.
Ten years ago, Belleros goes out to play (he'd be 15, so, for an Eladrin, I guess 9-10 years old) and finds Mask, abandoned, alone, wounded, that's up to you. Since Belleros is a "hyper" kid, and the only kid in his large, uptight, noble family mansion, he takes him/her/it home, and causes a ruckus to convince his parents to "adopt" his new friend.
Pretty simple, but all the complications of a noble eladrin and a doppleganger growing up like siblings/friends in the Feywild (so in Eladrin society) can be built in.
What do you say?

[sblock=shayuri]couple more questions. I put a sblock in case we want to keep somethink from the others (and Mask just might, right?).
I suppose if we go with that idea, the two escaped togethere secretly from the Arkeion family... maybe Belleros pulled Mask into that? kinda like the mischievous kid pulls the more quiet one into pranks? Or maybe Mask does have an agenda in the mortal world?
Is Mask usually disguised? As an Eladrin? In that case, in a world where nobody knows them, that might well be a secret only Belleros and Mask know. Could have interesting implications...
