This one's a no-brainer. Despite my longstanding affection for the wizard, the fighter and the rogue are just more fun and more interesting in 4th Edition.

Based on previous rounds and my own "Classes You Like" thread, I predict the wizard's going down hard this time. The real battle will be the final round when fighter and rogue have their long-awaited showdown. Smart money's on the fighter as last man standing, but the rogue could pull off an upset.

The wizard dies for not being flexible enough with his powers, and insisting I only get 1 memorized spell per level per day.

The 4E Wizard is finally a cool class. In previous editions, it was the go-to class for all the narcissistic whiners who wanted to be "king". Now it's the class of tactical excellence in battle and isn't about "I duz damage cuz I rulz".

The fighter has his place to, but the rogue? Tactical positioning makes it the coolest striker, but of the last three it's my least favorite.

The Rogue is a variant fighter, so he goes.

Fighter and Wizard are opposites who complement each other well. No wonder they were the first classes in D&D history.

At this point I'm voting Wizard even though I kind of like it. Its got the elemental grab bag stuff I hate, but I think it gets the controller job done better than anyone else. Sure, its at wills aren't quite as controller-ish as some other controllers. But so what? You don't need that sort of stuff on tap at all times. Its ok to have just a few really strong controller effects available, and then to hand out damage. The other controllers really can't compare to the wizard's ability to do things like enlarged, war wizardry augmented area burst 2 attacks at will. For sheer size and consistency of effect, you want a wizard.

But I like rogues and fighters more, so wizard it is.

I will just repost the last line of what i said in the previous round:

Death to Arcana!!! Long Live the Sword and Dagger!!!

actually I like the wizard in 4e... i would have liked him even more with some minor changes, but having 6 at wills and rituals make him more versatile than any other class.

And the fighter has so cool base mechanics that i don´t want im to go. Yes he could even be more cool with shift as secondary option to shift instead of attack... but who cares ;)

the rogue even though he is quite nice has to go. :( farewell my friend

I have a feeling the wizard is gonna die, but I'm voting rogue. Nothing personal, I think its a good class, I just really, really don't want a striker to win this thing. Ideally, the rogue would go down, the the wizard, and the winner of the entire thing would be a non-striker, non-magical class that was essentially a huge chump in previous editions, and I think that would be cool. The 4e fighter is a great class, and it deserves to win.

I do wonder why people don't seem to like the arcane.

On the other hand it does show how far the wizard has fallen. Oh well, it DID reach the last 3.

Eh. The swordmage, artificer, and bard went down early; the wizard and sorcerer made the last 4 -- which none of the divine or primal classes managed. The divine were gone pretty quickly; the primal classes stuck around quite a while on the barbarian's merits.

With all the complaints when 4e came out about the wizards being vastly underpowered and useless....the wizards somehow earns at least a bronze medal.

Do you think the upswing in wizard love was due to people actually getting off their duff and trying one out, or due to supplements increasing the wizards power level?

Yeah, I don't think you can say people "don't like" any class that hangs on till the last few rounds. They just like other classes a little more.
