[4e] covaithe's E1: Death's Reach

Will start with the updating. Any changes in character creation?

The only thing that's nonstandard that I can think of is that I follow L4W in giving a flat +1/2/3 bonus to hit at 5/15/25 instead of Expertise feats.

Stuff from published WotC books is okay. Stuff from Dungeon/Dragon/whatever is probably okay, but I reserve the right to say no once I see it. Try not to get items from E1/E2/E3. :)

What do you mean by 'focused burst damage'?
Focused burst damage is basically the ability to put lots and lots of damage on one target very quickly. Anostor (the barbarian you'd be replacing) is an excellent example of that kind of a build - in our first combat he burned a daily, AP, and encounter power to do about 200 damage in one round to one target.

You don't need to be able to do high damage every round, just be able to do a lot of damage in one round when you need to.

Indeed.
Heh, regressing dangerously close to WoW lingo there. I mean the ability to dump a lot of damage on a single target on command. It's good if you need to remove a particularly dangerous threat quickly.

Really though, build however you feel comfortable the groups pretty solid as is. It's more just idle musing on my part because that's really the big thing we lose in Anostor.

This groups not tweaked to the limit by any stretch of the imagination, but there is a decent amount of optimization going on, I might suggest you checking out the RG's and IC thread to get an idea of the power levels of the characters if being roughly on par is important to you.

Will look what I can do. For concentrating on one dangerous target, the avenger multiclass feat is very helpful (you need to hit to do the damage ;))

I think cov had some concerns for the Hero of the Faith feat as written, check with him or Lord S. (who took the feat also) about the changes to it.

Yes, I applied the obvious (to me) nerf that the target remains your oath target until the end of your next turn instead of until the end of the encounter.

At least, I'm pretty sure that's what I said. I didn't look back in this thread to catch the actual wording, and Sarenax's character sheet doesn't have the wording, either.

Here's what I've got on my sheet:

c.gif
Oath of Enmity
(minor; encounter) ✦ Divine

Burst 10, one enemy you can see; Effect: When you make a melee attack against the target and the target is the only enemy adjacent to you, you make two attack rolls and use either result. This effect lasts until the end of your next turn.

That nerf seemed obvious to me as well (I thought it was a typo when I first read it), so I don't think we discussed very long before agreeing on this version. Besides, I wanted the feat more for flavor and skill training in something other than Religion ;)

Is Sarenax seriously the only person in the party that wears heavy armor? I was just looking to see if the deathburst chainmail was directed at anyone in particular, but it looks like Sarenax is the only one who could wear it.

However, since I (still) don't have DDI, I need someone to enlighten me as to what exactly deathburst armor does, since I'd rather not go browsing through E1. ;) Never know, might be worth a transfer enchantment, if it can be transferred to scale.

Edit, Attn Covaithe:
Looking at my sheet, I've got a few questions about how you want to handle the property on the gloves of the healer. It says, "When you use a power that has the healing keyword, one target regains an extra 2d6 hit points." Does that apply to powers with the healing keyword that don't actually heal hp? For example, I've got these two:

:close:Divine Power (standard; daily) ✦ Divine, Healing, Radiant, Weapon
Burst 2, Enemies you can see; +27 vs AC; 2d12+17 radiant damage, and you push the target 1 square. Effect: Until the end of the encounter, you gain regeneration 5, and you and each ally within the burst gain a +2 power bonus to AC.

:close:Divine Armor (standard; daily) ✦ Divine, Healing
Burst 3, you and each ally in burst; Effect: You gain a +2 power bonus to AC, and all targets gain resist 5 to all damage until the end of the encounter.

Also, how would it interact with the Cord of Divine Favor encounter power? For reference:

Cord of Divine Favor
Power (Encounter ✦ Healing):
Free Action. Use this power when you use healing word on an ally or use another power that grants an ally the use of a healing surge. You can spend a healing surge as well and regain hit points equal to your healing surge value.

There is a similar multiclass feat in complete divine, also giving this enmity thing. Could I change my variant (for a bit more difference between characters) to:

Burst 10, one enemy you can see; Effect: When you make a melee attack against the target and the target is the only enemy adjacent to you, you make two attack rolls and use either result. This effect lasts until the end of the encounter.
