[4e] [ePoL] Heroic Souls IC (R6 Heian > Monsters > Eldan&Champy > Quinn > Silvi > )

Eldan is completely lost, having never heard of vampires before. The look of concern on his companions' faces is enough to encourage him to seek safety, however. Where do we find such shelter? We are far from the only safety any of us have known, he observes.

Champy stands resolutely nearby, waiting for some sort of signal or instruction. It seems that it would happily wait for hours.

"Of course they exist... I think... And for shelter I mean the safety of the multitude. If we get to a populated town, we'll reduce the probabilities of being attacked." Quinn explains, quite frenetically. He nears Champy
"Yes fellow mushroom, take us with the people, this place isn't safe at all." the wizard looks at the fungi with expectation.

Champy's attempts to explain further fall somewhat flat.

Despite animated moving of his non-mouth and some broad gestures Heain has no idea whether he's understood you, and if so what is response is supposed to indicate.

Champy nods at Quinn's encouragement and heads off, deeper into the forest.

As time passes, no less than a quarter of an hour, the forest around seems to grow darker. There seems to be an unplesant tang in the air and even the plants and surrounding greenery take on a dark, unpleasant hue.

[sblock=Arcana:15]This area has been warped by some sort of powerful malignant influence. While this taint is not threatening to you, as heroic souls, over time (i.e. months or years) normal creatures would almost certainly be effected by it).

[sblock=Arcana:20]This is the work of some sort of powerful magical influence over a long period of time. Perhaps there is or was a portal to some dark dimension, or some powerful artifiact lies partially bound somewhere ahead of you.

[sblock=Arcana:25]You think it's a portal to another dimension, probably one of the hells.[/sblock][/sblock][/sblock]

Champy forges onward, apparently unconcerned by this change in environment.

Quinn looks at the suspicious fog and darkened frowning. "I think there might be powerful evil influences here.. The kind created by an object or even a vortex to another dimension... and not a pleasant one. Where is this Fungi taking us Heain? I'm hoping he understood us, because you know... vampires have humanoid shapes..." Quinn asks, worried.

Quin's arcana: 20

Heian looks more and more nervously at the gloom surroundings, at Champy, at his companions, and back at the strange woods. Unnerved, he hears Quinn's words, and before he can react to them, another image of past lives flashes in his mind.
-He's kneeling, broken, sword and shield shattered, before a huge demonic creature radiating a horrible evil, his back at a pruple vortex of whirling light, holding in its claws an even more profane-looking mace, in the form of a twisted skull.-
Heian snaps, a faint golden light lit somewhere in his deepest being warning him and seemingly pulling him in the direction he had entered the woods. He looks back at his comrades, and especially at Neeloo: This is... bad. I don't know of portals or mystical objects but something is telling me not to go further. There is something evil here. We need to get out of here.

[sblock=DM] I didn't even bother rolling the arcane check, but I thought that the atmosphere here is so clearly evil that Heian's heroic soul would know better about the peril. [/sblock]

Eldan feels the unsettling darkness invading his spirit, but he steels himself against it. At Quinn's words, he scowls in frustration, and at Heian's he can't stay quiet anymore. No, he says forcefully. We have come too far to turn back now. This is the only clue we have to follow, and I trust our guide to avoid true danger. If we continue to doubt and second guess every decision we'll be lost in this wilderness until we wind up like those wolves. He pauses, hoping he hasn't been too forceful, but convinced that he's right. I suggest we keep going, and push on until we get past whatever this evil place is.

Quinn looks at Eldan and Heian, one after the other. "I have to agree with Eldan." he states "I know there is evil here, but if we turn away from the only clear path we have before us, we are as good as dead. At least, if we perish here, we will do but knowing we tried, and not died in cowardice" He meditates his own words for a moment "I think..."

You think, quite suddenly that this was your most recent life. You and The Fey Queen had come to this cave complex to free Zihir, sometimes called the Changing Dancer, from his imprisonment by the fiend.

You can't remember why the Dancer was important, but you'd freed him from the fiend's control when the monstrosity itself appeared. You held it off while the Fey Queen completed the ritual and escaped with the Dancer.

Your last memory is a defiant scream as the twisted-skull mace came down on your head.

Up ahead lies the complex where you last died; and evidence of what the creatures victory did to the land is all around you.[/sblock]
