[4e] Etene - IC Thread

The scarab-Quinn advances with a vermin determination and bites ferociously at the Kobold! The poor reptilian is left helpless against any other attack, if this one didn't finish him up.

OOC: Using Pounce on Kobold 24! a Critical hit! Kobold takes 12 dmg and grants combat advantage

Portal: EFGH at 1 represent the portal. It is walled off on one side so it can only be "entered" from the south going north. The back wall can be scaled (athletics check)

Baddies:
a - Kobold w/ Sling

Special Note
Q: "Lineov, why aren't the guards helping?"
A: "They are, you're just seeing the kobolds that the guards aren't conveniently fighting."[/sblock]

Kobold a - 20 Dmg, BLOODIED, ongoing 1 damage (SE), prone
Kobold b - 20 Dmg, BLOODIED,removed from combat, but still alive

The kobold takes the attack and sprawls backwards cracking his head along the cobblestone road. As blood spews forth from the fresh wounds the kobold lays there and tries to stab at the monstrous scarab from his position on the ground. His wounds continue to pulse blood failing to clot themselves as he becomes more and more frantic in his actions.

OOC: I generally allow special things with Nat 20's so long as it's pulpy and not too OP... hence why Kobold a is now bleeding to death on the ground, and kobold b is in a corner seeing mini Al-Har's run around his head cartoon style. (Quinn you've been moved to the easiest place to attack kobold a from since you didn't define a location square).

...finish the job Baern...

Seeing the last remaining kobold fall to the ground in a bloody mess, Baern raises his rod and calls forth another orb of searing light. He sets the radiant ball down on top of the oozing thing and waits for its painful cries to fill the air.

As the ball of light connects with the kobold on the ground no cries are heard and no noise is made from the last of the fallen. Only silence. Around you, cheers from the guards begin to raise at felling the kobold hoard. Fireforge turns to you in his gruff voice, "Moradin be praised. Thank-yeah for your help back there. Life guarding a portal isn't always like this, but every once in a while we have some interesting troubles. As I said before... welcome to Etene."

A few of the guards begin dragging out the bodies as civilians dressed in shimmering opal robes begin carting off the bodies to begin funeral rites and the other guards resume their position as Fireforge attempts to awaken the knocked out kobold.

OOC: Congrats, 100XP to each, and you find a combined total of 137 silver pieces on the ground from the fallen.

"Moradin be praised," Baern echos as he watches the goings-on of the next few minutes. "Done this 'afore," he says mostly to himself as the civilians carry on with their routine. "Too many times, it seems."

Finally he approaches Fireforge as he attempts to waken the last living kobold. "Ye thinking o' questionin' that dog-faced varmint?"

Cyrus Du'Caine, Half-elven Bard

Cyrus collected himself, then looked aorund the cobblestones that the results of the last minute. "Whew . . . this has got to be one the most unique towns I've stumbled into in my life," Cyrus commented to no one in particular. The half elf walked among the bodies, looking for any extra arrows to replenish his stock.

"Aye, he can go back on his own through the portal, though if he wishes to stay we'll let him, so long as he don't cause trouble. And what of you fine folk? Chance the unknown? If not, I know of a friend who runs an inn down the street that may be able to help you out for a night. It is getting kinda late, but who knows what time it is on the other side of that blasted contraption."

Another guard, speaking in a strange hissing dialect begins translating between Fireforge and the kobold. The two of them are having trouble trying to explain the situation to the small monster, but they do eventually get the general point across.

OOC: Cyrus finds 1 arrow in still usable condition.

The boring beetle reasumes his human form, and cleans his blood stained mouth "Glad we could help you out captain." states the druid. "We'll do well to get some rest. It's been a puzzling day indeed"

"I could use a drink, a wench, and a bed" Al-har the lareg goliath says, wiping the blood off his maul, satisfied that he proved his strength to these newcomers.

He looks to the kobold left and debates for a moment whether he should press his right of the reptilian creature as his captive, but holds off... for now.

Cyrus Du Caine

Cyrus rubbed at his chin, thinking less than thoughtful thoughts. "Inn would be great . . . a little wine, some stories, some women . . . someplace to sleep, someone to sleep with . . . much better than sleeping on the ground," Cyrus offered with smile. "Let's get there before another portal opens and we have to push back whatever pops out."

The bard was already adjusting his gear and getting an instrument out to hang on his shoulder. With a look back to the others, the half-elf was starting to walk toward wherever the guard had indicated where the bar was.
