D&D 4E 4e Iconics?

Pour

First Post
Not sure if this was covered elsewhere, but I was wondering if anyone was aware of any 4e iconic class/race combinations with names, personalities, and reoccurring appearances like the ones at Paizo, ala Seoni, or previously in 3e, ala Lidda, Redgar, etc. I'm not complaining or anything, I think it gets a little stale seeing that same wizard or paladin everywhere, but part of me desires a sort of sample cast all the same.

The nearest I can figure are the party from Fell's Five and the group from the recent Abyssal Plague books set in Nentir.

There were "named" characters in Heroes of the Fallen Lands and Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms, and Heroes of the Feywild introduced more of them (like Andronus the satyr skald and Nysticia the eladrin witch). But they are usually confined to the product they appear in.

Well, There is Drizzt, who has been mention plenty of times, Mostly in the magazines.
But then again, he's not really a "4E character".

You can still find Regdar around, usually dying, dead or being resurrected from the dead. He's a statue in the Medusa picture, and he's being raised from the dead in the PHB ritual chapter.

My 4 year old son loves Regdar. The 'suits' at WoTC were so right to insist on a human male warrior 'iconic'. I haven't the heart to tell him that the artists hate Regdar!

I love Regdar. Specially because I look at him and hear Vin Diesel's voice being all awesome and stuff.

I like iconics too. I'm glad to hear they are "back" with HoFL et al.
I wish they were released as ready to play 1st level characters, with those cool Encounter character sheets...
[off-topic] Actually, I never understood why they didn't go this route with the Heroes miniature line (may it RIP), providing fully stated characters for the corresponding miniature, instead of power cards...[/off-topic]

The Iconics in the Heroes of the Fallen Lands and Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms are in some of the recent novels too. At least one novel featured the cleric of erathis on the cover of the first essentials book, and several of the other characters in those books as supporting characters. I only read that one, so I have no idea if that has continued (it was an ok book at best, I haven't felt compelled to follow up on it). I don't recall the name right now, something about 'Nerath'...
