4e lovefest?

Yeah, it's not really the 4e "Lovefest" that I don't like, but the 3e "hatefest" that this places seems to have turned into. And I think Alan is right, a lot of that does hvae to do with how WOTC is marketing the game, basically by pointing out all the flaws in 3e, real and imagined. (And criticism of D&D tropes, too)

True, that existed long before 4e, but 4e has made it worse.

I've really only seen that on the 4e boards and in the threads that were meant to be anti 3e like the What's wrong with 3e thread. But there will still be 3e threads on this board. I'll be writing them as my next 3e campaign is starting in July.

IMHO it's always been like that. And that's exactly how I want it to be for 3.x (and for 4e, once it's out). If nobody is pointing out the flaws in the system, I'm going to stumble into them myself. No thanks.

Gimmie the criticism, gimmie the complaints, gimmie the map of the minefield.

BUT, well before 4E was announced, on these boards we had:

-threads specifically on the "sweat spot"

- [.....]

As opposed to threads on the "sweet spot", which were and remain far more pleasant to read. :)

Both are fine as long as you don't surf the web using your Smellovision(tm).
