D&D 4E 4e Monster Manual excerpt

Both Dominate and Charming Kiss have the Charm keyword attached to them. Perhaps there is a generalized description of Charm effects that says how the target behaves.

After all, the Dominate power says the target is dominated. Simply by the power description, we don't know what that exactly entails, though obviously we can guess based on experience with D&D.

Restating my question from page 1, as it seems to have gotten lost - Can any of you guys access the picture of the 4e Pit Fiend? Whenever I click on the thumb-nail, I get an error.

Cheers

While the discussion of the devils is somewhat interesting, there is just one thing in this article that actually interests me: absolute confirmation that the Astral Sea is filled with "astral vessels" sailing around between the various dominions. This looks like it is going to be a lot of fun...

Also the way they described how astral vessels who travel too close plummet out of the sky, got me thinking.

What if it is possible for Dominions to "sink" a normal Dominion rests level with the Astral Sea, "floating" along with it, and quite easy to be reached by astral vessels.

However some Dominions that are damaged such as the Nine Hells have begun to sink, causing pockets in the Astral Sea that are treacherous to cross. These Dominions too if they sink too far, crash into the swirling mass of the Elemental Chaos below or disappear into the Abyss.

I could also see other Dominions that float above the Astral Sea. These could be the watchtowers of the Gods or bastions of long forgotten powers no longer tied to the currents of the Astral Sea.

So, can PCs interpose themselves any time when a ally next to them is attacked or are they strangely only possible to do this when charmed by a Succubus?

As long as that ally is a sucubus trained at using them for cover then sure they probably could.

It's all good, though. I like it as is and I can always make a higher level, or Elite, succubus that DOES maintain her Dominate with a Kiss. Because it's exception based design and I want to. :]
I'd be happy enough with just one addition to the Dominate power:
Special: A succubus may use this ability against a target affected by its charming kiss as a minor action.

I imagine that if you roll say Reflex vs. Reflex to determine if the ally reacts faster then the attacker it is perfectly allowed.

The reason why that wouldn't be the case with the Succubi kiss is since they are magically intertwined the charmed-PC would instintly react to the attack.

Also: You can also explain it by telepathically commanding the PC there, almost reflexively done by the succubus - just as a fighter would move his shield in place.

PCs are usually not trained to act as another PCs telepathically connected limb (plus the succubus won't care if the character gets hurt). If he is trained, he probably has it as a defender power. ;)

Cheers, LT.

I am not sure if the interposing thing will be that important. Against a low level party, it appears as if she just has to use her Charm each round, and after 4-6 rounds, the combat is over, and the Succubus has made a host of new friends. Nice.
