D&D 4E 4e Multiclassing and Characters from Fiction

Personally I think a character like Elric will be one of the hardest types to represent in 4e. He is one of the most skilled Melniboneans when it comes to battle and is the most powerful of their sorcerers alive during his reign. I can't see him as being just a dabbler in a warrior class. IMHO, he does more fighting with weapons than actually casting spells. I think he is closer to the epitome of the 50/50 character.
He was also frail and weak - I'd rather peg him as a Warlock ("Blood and souls, for my Lord Arioch!") with dabblings as fighter and an overpowered artefact - without Stormbringer, he was much weaker.

Cheers, LT.

Raphael: rogue -> fighter
Xianghua: rogue -> fighter
Mitsurugi: fighter -> rogue
Astaroth: fighter
Kilik: rogue -> fighter
Talim: rogue -> ranger (TWF)

You know, this multiclassing thing had BETTER work.

Only because Iolo would have to wait until PHBII to be a viable character.

I could see this:

Iolo: Bard (when released), Rogue with Arcane Initiate, or Ranger with Arcane Initiate
Shamino: Ranger
Geoffrey: Fighter
Jaana: Wizard with Initiate of the Faith (maybe Cleric with Arcane Initiate)
Mariah: Wizard (maybe with Initiate of the Faith, since Ultima spellcasters could use healing spells)
Katrina: Rogue with Student of the Sword
Dupre: Paladin (maybe with Student of the Sword)
Julia: Rogue or Rogue with Arcane Initiate (since Ultima's "Bards" and Bard-like classes had a bit of spellcasting)
Lord British: Epic munchkin/monster, or Epic Wizard with Student of Battle plus "Major NPC that shouldn't be killed" template.
Avatar (as a "class"): Warlord with Arcane Initiate, Novice/Acolyte/Adept (wizard), with a Unique Paragon Path & Epic Destiny

Despite the druid being released down the line, its focus on shapeshifting & weather effects don't sound like a fit for the more magic-heavy variant of Ultima druid.

Fafhrd: ranger (twf with graywand and heartseeker), multi'd with rogue
Gray Mouse: rogue, with twf, skill training: arcana, and ritual casting feats

You see, IIRC multiclassing is only viable with 2 classes, so Fafhrd would be tough since he could feasibly be a ranger with Student of the Sword/fighter training (compared to Mouser, he was a tank). But, Fafhrd was also a skilled archer, and IIRC he didn't two-weapon fight that much, esp. compared to Mouser (he still maintained his archery ability after he lost a hand).

Gray Mouser is kinda tricky too, but that's only if two-weapon fighting is purely a class ability and not something that can be developed through (non-multiclassing) feats alone. Wizard or Warlock training seems viable, but mainly for ritual purposes/cursing (Mouser with abilities like eldritch blast or magic missile are a no-go, IMHO).

Madmartigan (from Willow): Fighter, some rogue. Very high level (as he's really badass).

The Fellowship of the Ring
Aragorn: Ranger (for the skills), warlord class abilities (feats? paragon path?), fighter class abilities (feats? paragon path?)
Gimli: Fighter.
Legolas: Fighter, ranger or both. Probably ranger.
The hobbits:
*Sam (farmer or has farming skills, Fighter)
*Frodo (hard to tell, but seems to have some leadership abilities, he sang to "inspire" his comrades but that doesn't mean he's a bard)
*Merry (light fighter)
*Pippin (rogue?)
Gandalf (wizard, aasimar-like race)
Boromir (fighter, some warlord abilities)
Faramir (fighter and/or ranger, some warlord abilities)

Rand Al'Thor (mostly wizard, some fighter or light fighter)
Matt Cauthon (rogue, some smart warlord; he started as a town rogue)
Perin (fighter, might have a bit of warlord but only the charismatic type)
