D&D 4E 4E Order of the Stick

First Post
It has probably been posted already but it just dawned on me that OotS began with the switch to 3.5, and that it will be really fascinating to watch the switch to 4E.

This time we'll see Belkar get taller and lose the hair from his toes. (Dreadlocks, optional.)

Vaarsuvius will slip from time to time into the realms of the Fae.

....and Elan may lose his class.

Exciting times ahead for the Order!

Hmm... if Rich flips things right with PH1, it's probably...

Roy: Human Fighter (no change)
Haley: Human Rogue (no change)
Durkon: Dwarf Cleric (no change)
V: Eladrin Wizard (new race, still indeterminate gender)
Belkar: Halfling Ranger (no more barbarian levels)
Elan: Human Warlord/Rogue ("I am Elan, Lord of War" :) )

3.5/3e halflings don't have hairy feet. Belkar is already up to everyone's shoulders already.

Elan will play a Warlord/Wizard/Rogue multiclass until the Arcane book gives us bards. Besides, I think OOTS may stay 3.5 or wait a while to update.

I think it's going to be hilarious when OotS changes to 4e. I think all those high level characters will go back down to level 1, because there's no direct conversion guide and WotC recommends that you start from scratch anyway. I bet the in-world justification will be the arrival of the Snarl, which disrupts and distorts the world much like the Spellplague in FR. There will probably be a lot of cracks about how this was done purely for money, or "change for change's sake," etc.

And yeah, Elan will be a Warlord because there's no Bard - LOL! But when the Bard is released, Elan will use the retraining rules to make the change.

Who says you need a conversion guide to convert? The designers who converted said that all it was was a "reinterpretation of the characters" or something like that. In light of that, level 13 or so (I forget what level they are) characters sounds right for 500+ pages of OotS, and the above classes sound right as well.

Rich has said that the "converting to 3.5" strips were among his least favorite, so it's unlikely that he'll make more than a passing reference to 4E when it comes. I expect a "disturbance in the Force" moment, then everyone going on their merry way.

But wasn't the very *first* strip the only one that dealt with the conversion? Seems odd that that would be "among his least favorite."
OotS invokes the RAW a lot, so I'd think it would have to explicitly *not* change to 4E if there's to be no lasting effect.
