[4e][Paragon] Kombat Kraziness (closed)

Good news and bad news: Villain's Menace is melee only, so you can't use it on a thrown attack. So you haven't wasted the daily. OTOH, you don't get the bonus either - and Narbel still missed.

Dang, that would have been some tasty damage if you had hit for lightning damage, and then popped the Daily to do another round of lightning.

People will also heal themselves by spending AP because of Torment.

You know I thought about that, but then since the handaxe was listed as a melee weapon with the heavy thrown property, I thought I might be able to do it anyway.

I like your interpretation better at this point. ;)

It is a melee weapon, but a melee power requires that the target be within reach. To use another character as an example, Glib has a bunch of powers that are "Melee or Ranged" that will work with a thrown weapon either way.

By the way guys, I know it's maybe soon, but I thought asking wouldn't hurt.
Is there a place for one more permanent member in the project, or is it full already?

Are people having a problem seeing terrain features underneath auras and such? I can redo to make them more transparent if needed. In fact, I could make all the markers with the current level of translucency, and then make the auras much more clear.

I don't have a problem with another pseudo (until you run something) permanent member, especially since we seem to be down a few for an extended period.

I for myself found the maps absolutely fine (and good-looking).

...Well, I do have an idea for this kind of 3-encounter short program (though after seeing your maps i have to say I seriously need to abandon Excel and learn to use maptool or I'll feel crippled...). I also have a couple of paragon-level characters ready, so...

I actually find Maptools to be useful on a functional level instead of just an aesthetic one. Being able to reposition guys by sliding them around with the mouse makes it easy for me to consider different strategies and I can draw out planned movements in advance when I have a good idea. Last encounter, I had to do a lot of fiddling with exact positions to make sure all the auras overlaped the way I wanted. Instead of trying to find the position for an area in my head by counting squares, I can just plop something onto the map and drag it around until it hits the people I want. Using Maptools required some up front work since I wasn't familiar with the program, but it seems like it's much eaiser on a per round basis than redrawing several auras and zones with Excel.

And, it least for myself, drawing the movement vectors in this last encounter makes it easy for me to visualize what's going on instead of just seeing the start and end points for things. It's not such a big deal for me now, since I'm dragging tokens along the paths anyway. When playing in another game, I've had trouble processing the events of the round since it sort of seemed like everything was teleporting around - especially because there was only 1 map update per round. Hopefully the arrows and AoE drawings help to communicate the flow of events, instead of just the final results.

----------------------------------

And the middle of the round is up now. So now we're to the end and beginning characters.

uhmmm after some experiments, I think I'm getting the gist of it...
Though, i must be really dumb, 'cause I can't find the function that lets you put letters and numbers on the next to the grid....

Ah. I'm dumb too, because I didn't find a function to label the grid like that. I just used the text command to do all of those manually. That's a huge downside to maptools - it was made for running chat type games online where the player would just move his token directly thus its features aren't optimized for providing information in a PbP format.

But maybe IG will correct me. That would certainly make it much easier to do the third map.
