4th edition conversions?

I distincly remember a quote coming from wizards that they were going to have some sort of conversion/backwards compatibility from 4th edition , to bring in your old stuff. Any news on that?

Perhaps I did not phrase my question clearly enough. I am aware they are in alpha and obviously not have a document. My question simply is an inquiry on whether anything was said about it or not.

No, I haven't seen any new info on that front.

But they'd better come up with something, even just a fan-article linked on the website. Failure to do so cost them a lot of 3rd-ed goodwill.

They need to provide a at least a conversion document for both 4e and 3.5, one that works at least for core, then with the documents already made to convert from Basic to Advanced to 3.0 to 3.5 it should be possible to transfer a good amount to characters to the new edition and back.
