Team Lake - Aywin

Aywin frowns when more mercenaries appear. "Hold them inside the transporter!" he tells his companions, thinking that perhaps having bodies inside will prevent others from coming.

He directs Svetlana to harass the furthest cultist from him, then strikes him with his pike, peircing his skull and pushing the body in the water.

OOC: move: none
Action: cast true strike: attack Cultist 1 with pike: 16 hit!, damage 13! The dead cultist is pushed 10 ft back, the bodiy is in the water in square J41

The cultist who had stumbled out of the transporter didn't have a chance to regain proper footing before Aywin thrust his pike through her and slid her into the water. Nearby the water began to bubble with the anticipation of crazed fish, who moved to consume her body.

Team Infiltrate

Lorent could tell that a few of the cultists were bloodthirsty enough that they enjoyed the prospect of torture, but they were reluctant to use it against their own, in case that cultist had friends that would hold a grudge. Still, he kept their attention as Copper took the key-ring off of Rowlow's belt. The big man was able to stand near to the drow's cage with no one paying attention to him, as the Cultists argued over the split of the pot, or tried to talk Lozent out of torturing their new prisoner, at least until Wyrmspeaker Silakul had the chance to pronounce judgement.

The mercenaries were also distracted, as Rowlow and Terrin spoke of his legitimacy. Terrin's story was possible, and Rowlow had wondered what had become of the others, having only heard some vague story of an encounter with kobolds.

"Fine," he snapped, "Getan here will check on yer story, but you'd better go with him. Bring yer buddy Brogh back with ya, so I can ask him t'vouch for you in person. Go now. I want you back before I head for grub."

TEAM LAKE - Bjorn
Frog-Bjorn grunted at the mercenary's blows. Seeing more emerge and hearing Aywin's urging, he called Bill back to his side and channelled the spirit of the moon, guardian of the night. The teleporter was instantly bathed in a silvery light, burning the two enemies within it.

OOC: OK, one nice change in 2024 is the (already powerful) moon druid can now cast a few select spells while wild shaped (versus just maintaining concentration), with moonbeam being one of them. Bjorn casts moonbeam centered on the teleporter (now bathed in dim light, 5-foot radius), catching M1 and C2. He's now concentrating on it.
Moonbeam (Radiant damage, DC 14 Con save for half): 2D10 = [10, 5] = 15

Coming from nowhere, unseen, in perfect position to do maximum damage, Torhak finds the best position to cut what remains of tendons and ligaments at the base of the dracoliches neck.

He prepares by marking the monster as his prey and drops down on it.

And what attack it was! Using his training, terrible ambush and perfect strike combine in slashing move followed immediately by overhead strike with the dagger that wedges between the vertabrae as he falls back down next to monsters leg.

OOC: crit with dread ambusher and hit with the dagger for 37 piercing and 11 piercing damage
Even if first attack isn't with advantage due some extra sense or not surprise, nat 20 is the first roll and second had advantage due Vex property of the shortsword

TEAM LAKE - SUBJECT: SHADE-9

With the Cultist contained and surrounded inside the transporter, Shade-9 scanned the structure itself, paying particular attention to the red crystal. There position had been compromised and there was no way of knowing how many mercenaries might follow.

Was there a way to disable the teleport node? Perhaps the red crystal could be removed?

OOC: Scanning the structure and looking for a means to disable its teleport function, will attempt to break or remove the crystal if nothing more obvious presents itself

Team Caves

As kobolds fled in terror all around him, their shrill cries piercing his ears, Urgan took a moment to assess the dracolich while carefully retreating. It was no illusion, he was certain, but there was something strange about it: It was big enough to be terrifyingly imposing, but somehow still seemed... too small for Dretchroyaster's reputation of having terrorized the countryside for centuries.

Urgan watched as Merrick tossed a javelin as the dragon squeezed its way out of the transporter. The javelin went into its ribs and would have damaged a lung, had there been any, but it hit bone and bits of rock crumbled off. This was when Urgan had a sense of revelation - the Dracolich wasn't made of bone at all, but instead it appeared to be made of the same, sharp-yet-crumbling black rock that formed the entire mountain.

Still, it moved like a dragon, and it shook off his attempt to distract it with an illusion as if it resisted magic (though Urgan got the impression that it wasn't quite as smart as a true dragon would be). Poor Scamp rushed at it, yipping, and was crushed underfoot as it stomped toward Shamal. As an act of vengeance for the javelin, it turned its gaze on Merrick, and its glowing green eyes sparked, sending bursts of energy toward him.

Then it turned back toward Shamal and opened its mouth wide, as Urbone the Magnificent ran in terror, leaving Shamal standing face-to-maw with the huge creature.

OOC: Merrick's javelin can only Push large or smaller targets, but did 16 to it. It did 12 Force (Magic Missiles) back to Merrick. It saved against Urgan's Phantasmal Force, and it did 14 slashing to poor Scamp. It still has some attacks, but I'll give @MetaVoid and @Snarf Zagyg a chance to go.

As the creature's foot descended on Scamp, the poor hyena let out a yowl of terrible pain -- the nose that some think of as a laugh, but to Urgan, it was the cry of a friend, a companion of many years.

The body disappeared, and blue wisps quivered upwards from between the monster's claws, celestial energies attempting to reform, but unable to do so.

"Scamp!" Urgan called out.He knew he had magics to bring Scamp back, but the poor beast had been killed in battle. The first to fall to this terrible creature...

OOC: Ack! how many attacks! Poor Scamp!

Terrin AC:15* HP:27/31 HD:4/4 PP:14 SSdc14 4/4 3/3 CD:2/2 Slp:1/1

Terrin nods to Rowlow and follows Getan to the stairs.

"You look tired, Getan," he says as they begin to ascend. "You sure you're up for this?"

Half way up the stairs, he reaches into a pouch concealed within his robes and pinches some sand between his thumb and forefinger.

"I give you the gift of my Lady," he says quietly, drawing out his hand and gesturing towards Getan as he utters arcane words which seem to blow silvery sand into the mercenary's eyes upon exhalation.

OOC: Terrin casts sleep. Getan must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or have the Incapacitated condition until the end of his next turn, at which point he must repeat the save. If he fails the second save, Getan has the Unconscious condition for the duration.

Team Infiltrate

The mercenary who had groomed the oxen, and had helped unload the wagon, and then had questioned Terrin, whose name was Getan, had a puzzled expression on his face as he escorted Terrin up the stairs, heading to speak to Siobhan. He was about to say that he felt fine, when Terrin blew something in his face. He yawned and asked, "What... what did you do to me?"

Staggering forward, he sat down on the stairs, and then curled up and began to softly snore. From where he was, Terrin could see Siobhan, standing guard in front of big doors, across the red-stone floor of the entryway. She was a disciplined guard, and she stood on duty, undistracted by the antics of gamblers and store-room hands. If she had seen Getan go down, she made no notice of it. He was now out of her sight, lying on the staircase.

There was more danger of someone downstairs seeing him, but they were all focused on dividing the loot of the card table, while the cultist in the iron cage further distracted them by professing his innocence through the bars.

OOC: Yeah, that's two failures. He almost made the top of the stairs, but not quite.
