Shamal hears .... more cowbell ... and quickly moves up to Urgan, deftly avoiding the pit trap, with his blades drawn. He looks into the dark recesses ahead and whispers.

Habibi, I am a servant of the sand and the sun; I fear my eyes are as useless in the dark as throwing sand in the water. I have torches with me, but lack a third hand to defend you while one is lit. Perhaps your magicks might light the way?

OOC:
Updated miniblock per OOC discussion.
Moves forward in case Urgan is attacked.

OOC:
EDIT-
Also, not sure if Lorent ever cast hearing on Shamal after the hit point discussion. Currently on 34, would be on full if it was cast... but I'm only down 6 without it.

Merrick is awkwardly carrying a small barrel with food in it. The flask is at his side.

"One second"

He pulls out rope and jury rigs something to tie the barrel to his pack.

Team Caves.

Urgan slips through the fissures, staff in hand, his eyes instantly becoming accustomed to the darkness. He says to the others, "Kobolds have reputations for being tricksters, or I guess rather trapsters..." He hesitates, unsure if he's made a joke or not. "Either way, they might let us pass. All we want is through. Does anyone here speak Draconic? I would be very happy to get by without needing to kill them all." There is no doubt in Urgan's tone that he sees that as the only alternative.
"Yeah, I speak Draconic."

Seeing Urgan almost fall into the trap, Merrick picks his away around the hole,

"Do you want me to lead the way? Not that I have a better notion how to spot traps." To Shamal's comment about darkness, he adds,

"Yeah, I can spot even less in the dark."

Hearing the sound, he says,

"Maybe they'll like the food we brought. I also have a small flask of something to open the talks. But I'm no diplomat."

I'll be happy to be translator if someone wants to lead the peace talks. If things start going sideways, I can try helping with Intimidate.

"So, what's fun to do around here?" he asks in turn.

The cultist's eyes widened. So many of the cult were no fun at all; so serious were they about their strange devotion. But he looked over his shoulder, as if half expecting Argyle to be following, and then said quietly, "A few of us have a regular game of Three-Dragon-Ante going in the prison. It's not like there's a lot of prisoners to look after - we usually feed 'em to a Hydra, if Lord Silakul has no use for them. Though, I hear that they're keeping a Drow there now. Apparently he'd been sneaking around. No one knows where he came from. I'm sure Gazaran will get him to talk, soon - if he hasn't already."

"A Drow and a Hydra?" Copper asks with a bit of genuine amazement. "I got to see this, where are they at?"
"Well, er..." stammered the cultist, afraid that he'd maybe said things that were forbidden, "The hydra's through the Dracolich's Audience Chamber - only the high priests allowed, except when we're throwing out the 'trash'. The Drow's in the prison, like I said. You'll see him when we get the wagon down. The storeroom is there, too."

Terrin stays quiet and observant, peering out from under his helmet at the interior of the cultists' surroundings as the gate closes behind them, and tries to avoid communicating with anyone in anything but the occasional grunt.

"So this is what it's like to be finally inside Blackpeak," he thinks to himself, the immediacy of their situation and seriousness of their mission becoming fully apparent, "after all those years of training for this purpose."

He walks beside the wagon down into the mountain, listening in on Copper's conversation with the cultist.

Merrick takes out a torch and lights it, holding the torch in one hand and the glaive in the other. ((If Urgan casts light, Merrick offers his glaive,))

He has an old shirt in his bag to tie around the end of the glaive if he ever need to 'douse' the light.

He indicates to Torhak to go hide and then shouts out into the cave in draconic,

"Hey there kobolds, we want talk. I have a peace offering."

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but, assuming there's a place for Torhak @MetaVoid to hide, I'll make first contact. I figure we get it over with now because if it's going to go wrong, better now when we're not in the middle of the cave? Feel free to interrupt this

Merrick casts Thaumaturgy so his voice is loud,
Booming Voice. Your voice booms up to three times as loud as normal for 1 minute. For the duration, you have Advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks. Obviously, not using the charisma bonus yet.

I have two things to offer - a barrel of food and a small flask.

The unarmored wizard happily lets Merrick lead the way as they proceed into the caves. As they move forward, Urgan is scanning areas he feels could be trapped.

OOC: Investigation of some area in front of them as they proceed as a bonus action; darkvision 120'; expertise in Investigation.

Torhak moves a bit forward, but stops suddenly as the ground gives way. He reluctantly advances, looking for a place to hide, but is to distracted looking for new traps to move silently and too loud to his own ears to focus on the ground.

Once he fades into the darkness, it is a bit better because the sound is the only thing giving him away.

Stealth; Perception: 1d20+8 = [4]+8 = 12; 1d20+3 = [3]+6 = 9
Stealth invisible: 1d20+8 = [6]+8 = 14
No! Bad roller!

OOC: I cannot roll stealth for Torhak if my life depended on it :D He readies the bow and awaits the arrival of kobolds. He positions himself a bit to the side of the main passage, thinking that might be safer route and to not be on the way of kobolds if they come to talk. He is invisible for people using darkvision
