(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Team Caves

The kobolds ushered Urgan and Merrick forward, until they came to a large cavern where the largest of the tent-huts was found. This one was large, circular, and had a fence made of sharpened animal bones surrounding it, like a miniature parapet. Two guards stood at the parapet's gate, and they were the most well-fed, well-armed kobolds that Imani's adventurers had seen. They held swords and shields that they'd either looted or traded for - certainly not made by kobolds.

The kobold who had taken the lead told Merrick, "You must shout-ask to talk. Urbone will not speak if you do not... impress."

Notes: 1) Kobold Village. To the south, where you came from, there are many tents like this one, with many "hordes" of kobolds. 2) Fighting Pit (surrounded by spikes); 3) Strange Object (teleporter?); 4) Chief Urbone's Hut; 5) A pool of slime, unmentioned before now.

Team Lake

The kayaks were beached on the muddy bank and their occupants disembarked. Loklafd tipped the kayaks up on each other, making a little wall that would cover them against threats from the water, while Shade-9 scanned the water's surface. Aywin made his way up the muddy bank, with Svetlana landing on his shoulder. They took a look at the strange stone object. Aside from that it looked to be some kind of magical chamber, they could make nothing of it. Svetlana called it "boring".

Underwater, Bjorn settled on the lake's bottom, wiggling until he was covered in muck on the bottom, his bulbous eyes sticking out. He watched as the lizardfolk (a small, scrawny male) swam deep. It seemed that the lizardfolk was simply trying to hide from the light above, but this deep part of the lake was full of fish, and to Bjorn's surprise, many of them grouped into a predatory school and began to chase the lizardfolk, biting at his feet as he swam. It would not be long before he was forced back out of the water to avoid them.

Merrick looks to Urgan,

"Oh! oh yeah..."

Then to the kobold in draconic, "thanks for the advice, buddy." He gives the little lizard a thumbs up.

"ahem"

"Urbone, come out! Our patience is waning! We seek the blood of those who dare kill Dretchroyaster but we will seek blood here if you make us wait! AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Merrick gives the little kobold an approving smile and another thumbs up.

Yeah, so thaumaturgy again.
If you want a roll, I can try intimidate. I get advantage on it.

Copper gives a whistle while the trap is being explained to him. "Nasty peice of work, that."

"Speaking of which,"
he continued while giving an apprasing look to the guard "can you tell about the family here, yourself, the 'who's who' of people charge, and what kind of team are we working with?"

Team Caves

Kobolds scattered, screaming in high pitched squeaks as Merrick called out in a voice that boomed like a dragon's. The kobold guards bashed the hilts of their swords on their shields, in some kind of salute, and the original, brave kobold who had been guiding them waved its arms in the air with approval - surely Merrick had the stuff of dragons.

The kobold Chief, Urbone the Magnificent, reached through the flap of his hut and beckoned, barking in a slightly more refined version of Draconic, "You may approach!"

The guards opened the gate of the low palisade, dragging the bone-and-rope barrier aside. They moved to the flap, and pulled it open. The original kobold guide said, "You go in, now!"

OOC: I've decided that I should show you big versions of some of my icons, because they're hard to make out in the maps, and they're rarely seen at all if you don't get into a fight - plus, I put a lot of time into them!

Team Infiltrate (Copper)

The cultist was busy hitching the wagon up to the chain contraption that would keep it steady while going down the stairs, but he stopped to give Copper a startled look. He stammered, "Uh... no one here talks about that sort of stuff. All you need to know is this - know your place. And that would be at the bottom. IF you're going to wear the purple, you'll have to start as a Scale and work your way up to Claw. You'll have to mind the orders of the Wings and listen to the teachings of the Fangs. You'll be lucky if you are ever in the presence of the Wyrmspeaker. And you won't see the Dracolich - you're not worthy. Can you even imagine the glorious might of a Dracolich?

It was obvious from the way he spoke, that he could not imagine its might. He had obviously never actually seen it, and he clearly lacked the imagination.

Team Caves - Torhak

For some reason, Torhak couldn't 'feel' these caves. Even from the start of this mission, it is not the caves...it may be the shadow of the assassin god that disproves of this quest.

Whatever the reason, Torhak felt constantly exposed, like a beginner. He had to fight the urge to move and duck whenever someone randomly glanced his way.

Stealth: 2D20.HIGH(1)+8 = [2, 8]+8 = 16
sad,.but this 8 is the highest I rolled in stealth up to now. And even that is with advantage or it would be 2

"Sometimes boring turns into fascinating; have faith my dear" Aywin telepathically tells Svetlana. He approaches the chamber. Looks around it for any markings. He does not enter it, but grabs a stone and throws it in to see what it does.

Team Caves (Torhak)

Torhak had hugged the walls, staying in the shadows. The big chambers that held the kobold village were dimly lit by a glowing moss, that hung in patches from the ceiling, which was some twenty to thirty feet overhead (though some patches of moss hung low enough that you could almost reach it). This was enough to keep him unseen to the kobold's eyes, which reflected the light, so that many, many eyes peeped out of the shadows, blinking at the strange newcomers.

Torkah followed, and as he was clinging to the eastern wall, he came upon the Strange Object, with its runes and red stone, as Scamp was finished looking at it, and turned to rejoin his master.

OOC: @MetaVoid IDK if you want to take a closer look (if so, gimme an INT Arcana check). Or a WIS Nature check if you want to take a look at the slime pool.)
