I usually gravitate towards Elves, Humans, and Tieflings, in that order. I know, very vanilla. In my defense, my groups all usually end up going for more fantastical species, so I pick Elves and Humans for a bit of balance. Although some of my favorite characters I've played have been a Gnome Artificer and a Changeling Warlock.

Waitaminit, if you accidentally didn’t click Gnome, and @Chaltab accidentally did click Gnome, wouldn’t that just even out? (FYI, in majored in Gnome Math in college).

I am absolutely shocked Human is in the lead. I didn't think so many people would want to play human characters in a fantasy game if given the choice.

There's a good meme for that, but yeah, we want to play ourselves, just....better and Fantastical.
