Yeah, I'm not trying to say 5e is strictly better, but for what I want out of a D&D game, 5e fits my profile better in every single way.

Nearly the same for me (I'd still get rid of at-will damage dealing cantrips though )

That's the way things go... I remember the first time I played D&D. It was 3rd edition and I made a gnome wizard (illusionist). I was baffled that I had to carry a crossbow because my wizard could only be a wizard two times a day

I am in favor of having more spell slots - that's a fine development.
