D&D General 6E But A + Thread

It has never worked that way (except possibly in 4e). No fighter is ever as powerful as an archmage. A high level caster has hundreds of potential abilities and options a high level fighter will never touch. This is somewhat balanced by consistent damage and high hp, but realistically having magic is stronger than not having it. You need to ramp up the fighter's supernatural powers at higher levels to get around that.

And a high level barbarian has absolutely never been the Incredible Hulk, not even back in the 60s.
I mostly agree.... But sometimes it's just more fun to bash things.

Another thought: how should a theoretical 6E treat loot and treasure rewards? What place do piles of silver and/or magic items have in D&D going forward. Should the game be aiming for Diablo style loot drops? Or should it be minimized or excised entirely?

I think 5E levels are fine. I'm playing a campaign converted from Pathfinder and the loot in that is so excessive it's utterly ridiculous.

My intent, is to have loot/magic items be both a downtime activity (itself being the 4th pillar) and part of the assumed math in regards to magic items.
