I was just sitting here looking at some of the various "pimp my Specialist Mage" type threads and it just occured to me:
In a sense, the Warmage is a "warrior-ized" Evoker specialist mage. What would "warrior-ized" versions of the other Specialist Mage subtypes look like? Conceptually AND mechanically?
For example- I've always liked 3.X Diviners for alternative takes on spy/assassin archetypes- they are the Eyes, Ears, and possibly Hidden Hands of the King. A "warrior-ized" version would be a little more self-sufficient just because of the weapon & armor options, but what would the spell list outside of the Divination spells look like?
Other Specialist types would also be pretty effective in a Warmage type build- Transmuters, Illusionists and Conjurors, for example, should shine... But what would Abjuror, Enchanter and Necromancer-typed Warmages look like? What would they do? (I'm sure that for some of these, you'd need to change more than just spell-lists.)
Has anyone done anything like this (HR or 3rd party publisher)?
