A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

Charlarn says through chattering teeth, "You weren't able to warm him up? I didn't think you were one who could fail at anything you set your mind to. Let me take a look at him. Hold still, Ignatious. Let the Searcher protect you from Shurassa's wrath." He casts endure elements on Ignatious.

"Well, he wouldn't let me try my best ideas...." Sara says a little grumpily. "Maybe we should stop earlier tonight, so you can take your time picking out the best spot and getting us situated. Or just stop at the first good place you see in the afternoon.... Hey, if we find a cave, I can fight off anything living in it, and then you can make it cozy! As long as there aren't any vegetables there...." Sara seems to throw off her grumpyness by force of will - plus the realization that ale has a lower freezing point than water. :p

"I'll keep looking. The sun will keep us warmer, so we'll need to find a place before nightfall."

"How are you doing, Zack? Keep massaging your fingers and stick them under your arms to warm them up."

"Cold," the older Grimm answers Charlarn.
Since their wizard is taking an extra hour of rest, Zack decides to go through some fighting excercises. Not intensive enough to work up a sweat, but enough to get the stiffness out of his joints and muscles.

ooc: I've re-read the cold rules, and it is my interpretation that *natural* recovery cannot begin until you've warmed up, but magical healing will work just fine. Just FYI...

After Iggy gets the rest he needs, the group breaks camp and once more hits the road.

The morning is a fairly light walk, and it does warm up for a while. However, the characters suffering from hypothermia are begining to wear themselves out, and may soon be too exhausted to travel effectively.

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3/ranger 1

Charlarn fishes the wand of cure light wounds out of his pack. He touches it to Ducane, Zack, and Sara, curing 4 hp, 7 hp, and 9 hp respectively. "That should take care of that." Then he looks at the miserable Ignatious. "Oops. I almost forgot you. This will help." He touches Iggy with the wand, curing 4 hp.

OOC: I couldn't find how much damage Iggy and Ducane took from hypothermia.

"Well, nothing to be done but to keep moving. I'm sure glad you were able to join us Charlarn. We'd be lost without you. After dinner, we should start looking out for a good camp site."

"Most appreciated," the dark-clad warrior says as the cleric's healing warms him up. Despite his words, the appreciation doesn't actually sound in his voice.

If all of the hypthermia damage was removed, the party is able to continue normally. Early in the afternoon, the temperature drops and a light snow begins. DC 15 survival checks against cold for unprotected characters.

Charlarn thinks the storm will get worse before it gets better.
