A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

Iggy

Iggy flattens himself against the stone wall outside the cave, and keeps O'Toole on a short lease, aiming his face away from the cave so he'll be less likely to panic if the bear emerges. "Get him out of there, Charlarn!"

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3/ranger 1

Patlin said:
The bear responds well to Charlarn's confident attitude, and seems less likely to attack. It aproaches him and sniffs noisilly about his person, seeming interested in his pack.
The cleric tries to remember what his mentor taught him. He slowly shrugs the pack from his shoulders. He maintains eye contact with the bear as he gets a couple trail rations out. "In a soothing voice Charlarn says, "Do you want some food? I'll let you have this if you let us have the cave." He holds the food and back away slowly toward the entrance.

The bear seems to want the food, but he seems to be getting irritated that Charlarn is moving the food away from him. Thinking over what his mentor taught him, it might be wise to give the bear the food.

The bear seems to be mollified by the food. You don't think you'll be able to actually evict it from its home, but you should be able to share the cave with it peacefullly... at least as long as your rations hold out!

(The bear eats 3 days worth of rations in this initial meal.)

"Wait, we have something entertaining and edible here, and we're gonna feed it our food instead?" Sara sits down grumpily, but keeps her swords out. "First I'm attacked by a vegetable, then we're almost defeated by weather, now he's palling it up with my fight. This is really turning out to be a real low self image quest...."

ooc: going to the lake where the fire is pretty but the wireless don't reach, see you monday.

Zack nods in agreement with Sara on this one. Regardless, it seems they now have a safe place to spend the night and an extra heater.

(Hand of DM advancing time!)

The party awakens to a brisk morning, with snow covering the mountain landscape. The bear eats a lot of food (another four days worth!) but the party is able to leave its lair peacefully in the morning and travel through the snow. The next few days of travel are harsh, and Charlarns survival skills and the blessings of his god are key to the party's safe passage through the mountain pass.

It's a relief several days later when, camped at the northern base of the mountain, the warm sun awakens you to what promises to be a more pleasant day of travel. You are all healed, and casters may choose their spells for the day.

Iggy figits anxiously all night. And he's still anxious when they pass the mountains. "That bear ate a lot of our food. We need to be on the lookout for game. Keep your bows handy."

Iggy hates missing a meal, but is paranoid enough about their decreasing food supply that he skips second breadfast. If he sees any rabbits or ducks or the like, he'll fell one with his magic missile. He'll keep his standard spells.

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3/ranger 1

Charlarn keeps looking for game and forage. (takes 10 on his Survival check; finds food for himself and 4 others) "It cost us some food, but who knows how badly that bear could have hurt us. At least we can get fruit right off the bush."
