I think the other books after CROWS will go smoother. GRRM did not plan to do a 7th book, so he has to expand alot of stuff that He orginally did not plan to.

I hope Martin finishes at some point in the near future.

I heard a rumour that Martin is actually dead, and the updates on the website are just the publishers stalling for time while they figure out how they're going to escape the rabid fanbase when it turns out that there isn't going to be a Feast for Crows.

But his son, Christopher Brian Martin, is going to collate all his unfinished manuscripts, and sell them as a couple of collections for the true fanatics.

Well if so it would explain alot wouldn't it? No I'm sure he's not dead or undead. Neither is Martin. I will say though I'm glad I have other writers to fall back on while waiting for Feast of Crows.
