A Good Prestige Class for a Paladin

Ok, I've looked through most of the WotC books and Forgotten Realms books and I cannot find a nice PrC for a Paladin.

There are a few that are ok, but none of them jump out at me as nice. It's almost as if Paladins are an afterthought when it comes to PrCs.

Can anyone suggest a PrC and complimentary feats from the WotC books? It's probable that there are gaming combinations (i.e. feats and PrCs) that I have not thought of. And, we will not be using third party material, but most of the WotC (non-Eberron, non-Grewhawk) books will be in use.

Note: The campaign is starting at first level, so this is mostly planning for the future.

Blackguard! ;)

Divine Champion from PGtF is alright, but I would just go Paladin all the way, which is the best approach IMHO, since the mount and spells are quite useful later on.

Don't have my books with me, but I'd suggest the "silver chalice" one in the complete warrior or something from the BoED. (Fist of Raz.... or the dragon slaying one).

Also, the halfling outrider can be a lot of fun for a halfling paladin. A bit weak perhaps, but certainly fun. Might need 2 levels of fighter to get ride-by attack and spirited charge to make it a useful build. But a powerful mount you can have indoors is handy.

When I get home I can throw some more out....

I think of one really good feat for a paladin: Divine Might. Lets you add your charisma bonus to weapon damage for 1 round if you spend a turning attempt. Only prerequisite is power attack I think.
Lot less useful in an undead heavy campaign though.

How about Outcast Champion (Races of Destiny)? You must be a half-orc, half-elf or half-ogre. But a very strong class it is.

Complete Warrior and Complete Arcane have several good prestige classes for a paladin. Cavalier and Knight Protecter seem good.

Or, you can always take a level of Exotic Weapon Master for your bastard sword. Then take fighter levels or other prestige classes thereafter.

Fist of Raziel (BoED)
Cavalier (CW)
Hospitaler (CD)
Church Inquisitor (CD?)
Halfling Outrider, if you are a halfling and want a very powerful mount

Divine Crusader (Complete Divine) is not a bad option. Not long after it's release someone undertook a pretty good analysis of the PrC to identify the most 'useful' domains. Once again though, probably best to stick with straight Paladin unless you really want to enhance your mounted combat prowess.

I have a 13th level (Ftr7/Pal6) elf about to take a level of Champion of Corellon (Races of the Wild), but that wouldn't be for everyone. The only 'paladin-like' ability from that PrC is the continuation of 'lay on hands'.

Edit: You can qualify for Champion of Corellon at about 7th level. There was a variety of reasons why it took until 13th level for my character to start down that road.
