D&D 5E (2014) A New Frontier [IC]

Haunted Manor
Midday 2nd Day of Kythorn

As you make your way outside the manors gates and look back you note the skeletons seem to lose all sense of your existance. They slowly regenerate, break off into pairs, and start patrolling around.

Round 4

“So,” Arjhan said, eying the patrolling skeletons again. “Is there another way inside? Let’s patrol around, perhaps find any magical sigils or runes powering whatever it is keeping the skeletons animated.”

Is there a pattern to their movement, Thren thinks to himself. Out loud, "Access point....domicile, door sturdy..window?"

he picks up a rock and hurls it at one of the ground floor windows.

"There must be some focus for this. A temple, negative energy stone or some such." Luthor observes the yard carefully as the skeletons patrol the grounds. He goes around with the group, still looking for something that might be such unholy focus.

Tarukka explores the limits of skeleton tolerance. He cuts at one and lets green flame dance to another, but remains outside of the front yard. If that doesn't work, he does the same, but this time it is one skeleton that takes the attack - and after the blade hits him, sonic boom explodes the bones as it moves.

Once the skeleton drops, Tarukka grabs one or two of the bones and takes it out of the yard and observes it, waiting to see if they remain active outside of the closure. At all times, he is careful not to be inside longer than strictly necessary, in-attack-out again. No waiting to see how other skeletons react.

"Good..plan..."Thren mutters seeing Tarukka in action. "Try this.. kitty pounce"

He lithely leaps over the small fence and grabs one of the skeletons and attempts to move it over to the edge of the boundary and hurls it over.

As you walk around the manor, the skeletons pay you no mind. There appears to be stairs that could lead to a basement level entrance, but it's hard to tell from outside the fence. Swinging at them, and launching attacks causes them confusion, unable to discern the source of the damage. Throwing a rock at the window should have resulted in glass shattering, but instead it bounces off harmlessly. As you eye the glass curiously a misty face appears briefly in the window. Thinking back on the manor's front doors, makes you consider picking the lock.

Seeing nothing working Thren tries a more direct approach, leaping over the fence and charging a pair of Skeletons in an attempt to drag one outside of the manor grounds. As you try and place the skeleton in a clinch the absence of muscle and flesh, the feel of it's old bones in your hand, and the sheer smell of the skeleton leave a gap in your clinch which the skeleton quickly wriggles it's way out of as it's partner sings at you with a rusted saber, which you easily dodge.
