A question about Weapon Pluses

Um. So a +5 vorpal longsword doesn't overcome DR/epic?

No. Even a +5 vorpal flaming longsword - +11 market price modifier, and therefore an epic weapon - doesn't overcome DR X/Epic, because being an epic weapon isn't what overcomes DR X/Epic... having a +6 enhancement bonus is.

So an appropriately-Baned +4 weapon (not an Epic weapon) will overcome DR X/Epic, while some Epic weapons will not.

As another random question, how are monks and druids supposed to overcome DR/epic?

Well, Druids do it with Flame Strike. Monks can grab an Epic weapon like anybody else.

Ah, alright, thanks, for some reason a found "epic weapon means a +6 bonus" a bit ambiguous - guess it says Enhancement and I just didn't notice.

Some monsters are vulnerable to magic weapons. Any weapon with at least a +1 magical enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls overcomes the damage reduction of these monsters. Such creatures’ natural weapons (but not their attacks with weapons) are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

A few very powerful monsters are vulnerable only to epic weapons; that is, magic weapons with at least a +6 enhancement bonus. Such creatures’ natural weapons are also treated as epic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Oh, one other thing. If you use the Quarterstaff as a double weapon I think you have to enchant each end separately, paying for each separately. Otherwise you have +1 Holy on one end and Masterwork on the other.

The NPC will just be using it as a normal weapon, so it does not need both ends enchanted. :)

Thanks for the help everyone! :)
