A Simple Errand (DM:renau1g, Judge: covaithe)

The group travels back to Daunton, finding the road easier on the return trip as you are more familiar with the way home. Without any delays along the way you arrive back in the city and are able to make your way to the The Hanged Man.

You feel a bit of a pull from the spirit inside you, but nothing you can discern.[/sblock]

Peeking through a window, you see Ezren sitting quietly at a table watching the antics of a large half-orc as he approaches various females in the tavern, showing them pieces of paper. You see him punch a kobold in the face, pick him up and then give him a hug.

With the staff so close to it's goal, and the feeling of the spirit pulling on his mind subtly, Crag wonders if it is really best to hand over the staff. In the wrong hands, the staff could be used for the worst of evils, as he saw in his visions. Thinking back to the morning before, he tried his best to clearly remember the face of the evil wizard in his vision that was summoning deamons.

[sblock=ooc] Not really sure what I would use for Crag to try to remember something like this. Any suggestions, R1? [/sblock]

"Ah, it's good to be home again," Dorn notes, observing the theatrics inside.

Ingot stops and waits, looking at Crag. It seems to sense the other warforged's uncertainty. "What do you want to do, Crag?" it asks quietly.

Jax scoffs at Ingot's query. "Isn't it obvious? Let's give that staff back to Ezren. That's why we got it, yes? And he has gold for us!" Without delay, the rogue enters the tavern and approaches his employer.

"We're back! Mission accomplished!"

ooc: unless Kalidrev acts on his suspicion and decides to stop Jax.

Before you can even enter the tavern, the door bursts open and another kobold comes out, it's the one the half-orc punched! He nearly crashes right into Jax.

[sblock=ooc]
Crag - not sure, maybe Nature as it was the nature spirits that were trying to contact you.

The door flies open, as the short kobold continues talking to the room, oblivious to the people outside.

"...if Tonk, or someone else tries to punch me next time, it'll hurt'em back! Does anyone know where I can put a me-sized suit of plate armor on lay-away?"

Holding his last 39 silvers nestled in his arms like a baby, he bounded out the door, - and collided messily with Jax. The silvers flashed in the sunlight as the fell to the ground, scattering every which way. "My horde!" he hissed as he turned to the larger Jax. Meepo did his best to puff himself up, trying to seem as large has he could.

"Watch where I'm going! I'm a big important hero, as I'm sure you know, and you just made me drop the money that was going to buy me this towns finest suit of plate armor. Golden plate armor. Golden plate armor with dragons heads welded on it and... and... Wait, you're a scalyfolk!" Meepo gave a wide smile. Jax's coloration was not the mottled grey that ran in his tribe, nor was his horns ivory. He exhaled a sigh of relief.

Seemingly now uninterested by the emptiness of his own arms, he clapped Jax on the shoulder.

[sblock=Draconic]"Well met, scalebrother! You are the first of my kind that I've seen since coming to this island. I should have stayed in... oh, never mind. As I'm sure you've heard the many exploits of Meepo the Brave, son of Meepo-the-Not-as-Brave-as-Meepo-the-Brave, I shall not bore you with the details of my life, and will instead insist that you allow me to stay with you at wherever you live, as I am currently without home, an with only a small horde at my -"[/sblock]

Again realizing the loss of his property, Meepo flits about, recollecting his treasures.

[sblock=ooc]Hello everyone. This is my first time doing pbp! I've felt really welcomed here so far, and I'm looking forward to playing with you all. I'll be glad to throw another Leader into the mix.[/sblock]

Before responding to Ingot's inquiry, Crag does his best to ignore the rather loud entrance of another kobold, while he tries to communicate with Terra.

Terra! I don't understand what I need to do. Should I give the staff to Ezren, my employer, or is there another path that I need to take? Do I make the others angry at me for messing up the job and try to find a way to destroy the staff? Is there someone else that I need to give the staff to? Please show your servant the way that he can best protect this world!

Closing his eyes, Crag tries his best to make a solid connection with the voice inside of him.

[sblock=Nature Check] Yaknow... on the most part, IC sucks, but for some reason, whenever the story has demanded something good of Crag, it has always seemed to comply rather nicely. In this case, Crag CRITs his nature check! (total of 26). Thank you IC! [/sblock]

"...if Tonk, or someone else tries to punch me next time, it'll hurt'em back!"

At these words, Dorn's face falls. He had heard of Tonk - he was exactly the kind of half-orc he spent his life trying NOT to be - crude, violent, unsophisticated...

"Never mind that Tonk," Dorn says to the kobold. "He's got the brains and natural grace of a rock. Here, let me help you with that." Dorn calmly picks up a few of the scattered silver pieces and hands them to the newcomer.

Jax looks apologetic after bumping into the other kobold, but he grins at the mention of the plate armor. He responds in a long, rapid procession of staccato barks. All the while, he shifts about to help pick up the coins (trying his hardest not to misplace any into his pockets), then simply from one foot to another. Jax seems a little too excited to stand still.
[sblock=Draconic]"Sounds great! Nice, shiny, thick armor, like dragon scales." Jax points at the silver coins now being collected by Dorn. "But um, that isn't enough money, is it? Plate armor is expensive. And it's heavy. How can you jump with that stuff on? Or even walk around?"

"Anyway, huzzah to you as well! I'm Jax! This town needs more dragonkin. It doesn't need actual dragons though. We just got back from fighting one. A real dragon! Can you believe it? He almost ate us all, and then he ran. True to the legends. Meepo, stick around and maybe you'll see one! Better if you don't though. They'll eat you too."

Moving on to the Meepo's offer: "Sure, you can hang around if you'd like. Two kobolds are worth five hands! I know lots of good places to sleep in the city. No real home though. They kicked me ou... er, I left awhile ago. But there are plenty comfortable alleyways here. One behind the tavern even! Very clean, no smells, and the sun heats up the cobble."[/sblock]
