A Song of Ice and Fire RPG....from the mouth of Martin.

I fired off an email today to ask George R.R. Martin if he had considered doing an RPG for A Song of Ice and Fire. This is his reply.

"We are negotiating with several companies about a RPG right now. Too early
too say what will come of it, however.

It won't be GURPS, though. I play GURPS myself, and have for many years, but
it is exclusive to Steve Jackson Games, and SJG is not among the bidders.

Ok, you can sign me up for a copy or two...or three! I don't know about everyone else, but I've been waiting to hear news like this for quite some time. I don't care who produces this, or which system is used. I WILL buy this book.

I wonder if FFG has an inside track on this one because they have the rights to the card game?

I looking forward to this one, thanks for the info. GRRM has IMO the best series our there at the moment, I'd love to play in that world.

Love the series. I would cry if my GM said he was going to run a game in GRRM - you know to capture the flavor

I love the series but the only alignment allowed for major characters will be Neutral Evil and Lawful evil.... a very amoral tendency in charcters...

I personally think an RPG set in Martin's Westeros has huge potential. Just off the top of my head, I could think of a few reallly good campaign hooks. A Nights Watch campaign, a campaign centering around some knights and lords of a lesser house, a campaign focusing on the royal court at Kings Landing, and maybe even a campaign featuring a few members of the Kingsguard.

I hope negotiations for this game work out; I can't wait to find out who wins the big "prize". I can't even begin to imagine who could be in the running for this game if SJG is out of the picture.
