A Teacher for Laynie: Mystery at the Academy (Part 2)

*He seems to recall that the door was to the Sice Professor's Lounge, a complex filled with an astounding array of luxuries and recreational facilities available to the Sice professors alone.*

*After what seems an eternity but is probably about an hour, an elderly male professor who Vanitri doesn't recognise unlocks the door with a magical sigil and enters. Vanitri follows right on his heels, and although Vanitri makes a bit of a sound on the squeaky clean interior floor, the old man's hearing isn't good enough to pick it up. He shuts the door behind him, and it locks on his own.*

*Vanitri heads through the area, sneaking as far as possible from the few professors in the lounge. He eventually reaches the innocent-looking spot in the wall where the secret library is said to stand. He touches three normal-looking stones in the wall one at a time, in the order specified. After each one, there is no indication that anything is happening, but after all three are touched without touching anything else, the wall slides open, revealing a door that does not appear to have any traps when Vanitri checks quickly.*

*Vanitri doesn't see anyone staring or looking his way, and he opens the door and heads invisibly down a dark corridor that spirals downward and leads to a large opulent library filled with all sorts of books. Unlike the main library, this one isn't catalogued for convenience, however. Thus, searching for something specific here may be difficult.*

Vanitri will get started, looking for some type of patern of how the books are arranged before he delves in.

*There isn't a great amount of organisation, but he eventually is able to determine at least a separation between historical and magical books. In the historical section, he sees a big rolled-up scroll the size of person that kind of looks interesting due to size, so he unfolds it on the reading table. It turns out to be a genealogical survey of families and descendants tracing back to the time of the Magequeen herself.*

Vanitri looks to see if the daughter appears on there, as well as looking to see if any current students appear.

*Vanitri discovers that the scroll is actually much bigger than it seems--if unrolled fully in both directions somehow, it would fill up the entire room's floor. Elayna Lyrue the Second is listed, though afterwards they list a ?. Going down, no surprise that the founders of the school are listed--it looks like Sice was technically descended from a remote branch of the Lyrue line, according to all the connections. At the bottom, he does see the names of students he recognises, though most are the descendants of fairly minor branches--it seems to have every Highborne there is. For instance, Sice Housemistress Kharisa Valpyren and her son Solon are listed. Kitty Valdaryne is there too, descended from a lesser branch of relatives related to the legendary Headmistress who founded the fourth branch of the Academy. There aren't any current students that are all that closely related to Sice himself, though. The bottom of that line of the tree goes to an Alhaym Valsice and her two children Zarindas and Elayna. Both of them have a ? listed underneath them.*

Vanitri chuckles, still thinking that could be Laynie under one of them. He rolls it up and puts it in a case, and then tucks it away for Lex to look at. Then he looks around for other info on the Dark Lord.
