A Teacher for Laynie: Mystery at the Academy (Part 2)

[Rystil Arden]

*Elektra shakes her head and smiles wryly.*

"It's good, but not that good. It just tells where places are with random little notes, no paths or anything drawn in. Shall we go borrow Truman's cloak and then have you give it a try then? I think you may be in grave danger of expulsion or worse if you find Sice's secrets, but we aren't exactly safe anyway, so if you're willing to take the risk...well, you're very brave, Vanitri," Lex gives him a kiss on the cheek.

 

[Bront]

Vanitri smiles, "It's not like I'm much safer now anyway. And you have more to risk from expulsion than I. Let's get the cloak, and then I'll go at it alone."

 

[Rystil Arden]

*Vanitri, Elektra, and Laynie head over to Truman's room to borrow the cloak, then head back to Lex's room. Lex and Vanitri study over the map carefully, paying close attention to the locations of professors and even students who might possibly pass by or see or hear the intrusion. Eventually, Elektra, while still not certain, feels that they can't learn any more from planning.*

"Good luck, Vanitri! And be careful--magic is more commonplace here, so an invisibility cloak may not be enough if someone gets suspicious."

(OOC: Let me know his general sneaking precautions for this little excursion)

 

[Bront]

Vanitri nods, "Lex, if I get removed from the Accademy somehow, I want you to watch Laynie till she's ready to enter. She belongs here."

Vanitri will generaly take stealth over speed while sneaking, looking and listening for things that could blow his cover as well (running into people, opening doors with observers, etc)

 

[Rystil Arden]

*Lex nods.*

"I don't think I can take care of her, but at least I can watch her occasionally--maybe Rayne can work out something?"

*By moving slowly, Vanitri has to resign himself to more people passing him as he goes, so he tries to hug the wall, as he sneaks into the tower. Eventually, he reaches a locked door, though it seems to have at least a bit of traffic. He's either going to have to wait for someone to unlock it or try to pick it.*

Vanitri will try to pick it, watching out for passer bys.

*Vanitri detects a magical alarm trap on the door. It seems that it sets off when the lock or trap itself are tampered with. It doesn't attack or anything, just alerts.*

Vanitri tries to recall what this door was to.
