"We can't yet--that's why I gave you the map. Have to check for the notes to see where it matches up. There's undoubtably a secret passage we'll have to take, after all."

 

[Bront]

Vanitri pulls out the "Notebook".

"Take notes."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Right. Will do."

*The notebook draws in some random comments, but the secret passage, as Elektra guessed, leading to the laboratory catacombs is labeled with a nice little passage about how to open it and disarm the traps. Perhaps most troublesome is this part "Sice's last trap only opens for his blood or the symbol of his non-blood successor, which would be the symbol of office for the Sice Housemaster no doubt. Ha! Piece of cake." *

 

[Bront]

"That would seem logical, but we should take our house symbol as well... just in case."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"You mean steal Housemistress's Rayne's? That couldn't work logically--Daryne didn't exist as a house until long after Sice had already made this and passed away."

 

[Bront]

"Magic is not always logical, much as you might think," Vanitri says. "It can't hurt at least."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Well, I suppose. Though if you're going to rob Rayne, might as well nab Kharisa Valpyren's that we think will work, right?"

 

[Bront]

Vanitri nods. "Remember, it said the heir's symbol, doesn't mean it's any symbol he knew at the time."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"It said his successor's symbol. I can see how, since he was the first Sice Housemaster, the future ones would be his successors, but not really how a Daryne could. Rayne would be Elayna Daryne's successor."

 

[Bront]

Vanitri nods, "Well, then we'll take that one. Taking 2 could be harder."
