You want different? Add a race with the Plant type, either innately or via something like the Woodling template.

Actually, Goblins are Plants IMC which live under the ground, not requiring sunlight to survive.

My homebrew includes Lizardmen, Gargoyles and Hobgoblins as PC races. They've all worked out fine.
