Although Narvala had been quiet -- playing the kind of woman who came into establishments like this did not suit her in the least -- it did not mean she was not paying attention.

When she had a moment, she offered her opinion of the serving girls' state of mind as well.

Baern returns to the room and closes the door quickly. Nyar, didn't the papers we found in the Key Slip say this place might be RUNNING everything? I've got a bad feeling about this.

Nyar smiles grimly at his dwarven friend.

"That is exactly why this is where we need to be. Loosen your weapons friends and be ready. We may be walking into a trap, but we may be gaining that next piece of information that helps us identify who or what is behind this."

When everyone is ready un-peacifying their weapons, Nyar suggests they leave as quickly and quiety as possible, heading for the kitchen.

The group heads up the hallway and into the kitchens.

There is a small group of Kenku there working on preparing meals. They look up in alarm at the Baern's weapon. A quick perusal of the room shows the team that there is a set of stairs off to the side leading down into the darkness.

Nyar looks from the handaxe to the kitchen staff.

He points to the stairs, "Rats. Big ones. Right this way, mister exterminator."

He walks purposefully to the dark stairs.

"By the way, I think something is burning," He points over the pots, which, with a little help from Prestidigitation, seem to be smoking darkly.

As Baern moves through the kitchen he grabs a cleaver in his off hand, drawing more stares, and then heads down the steps first.

OOC: Improvised weapon or what? :)
