OOC: Narvala did not state where she was pushing Kenku 2, so I had her push it as far as possible away. Also, I have limited connectivity over the next few weeks, so I'll try to post when I can, but it may be sporadic. For example, I can make a quick post at the moment, but I don't have enough time to do a monster turn post.

[sblock=ooc]The movement rules are confusing me here.[/sblock]

[sblock=movement rules]
As a minor a PC can:

1) Go 1 or 2 squares straight up.
2) Go 1 or 2 squares straight down.
3) Go horizontally up to 3 squares in any direction (i.e. increase or decrease the (x) number to get closer or further from the tower and/or move to the right or left on the map).

The PC cannot combine these. It's one of these 3, or no movement.

Pushes, pulls and slides can be done:

1) Horizontally in any direction.
2) Horizontally down in any direction.
3) Down in any direction.

They cannot be done in an upwards direction.

Hope that helps.

Why not? I mean, we're talking about relative push. Push 2 'upward' still means that the pushed entity falls 4 squares in absolute terms (since we're falling 6 squares a round)...same with push downward, push 2 would mean move of 8 in that round. That's about it.

A bird flies by, gets distracted by the odd falling humanoids, and promptly crashes into a tower.

[sblock=ooc]I just wanted to say that it's very cool that this encounter is still happening, despite my absence. I knew it was crazy when I wrote it, and wouldn't have expected anyone to really attempt to follow my notes on it. You guys rock![/sblock]

It's actually very good encounter, totally screwing us over for most of our powers and abilities. Will you be taking over?

To the players: don't push them away, we have limited mobility and getting them far away doesn't help. Put them adjacent to Cairn if you can

OOC: I am having fun, though I look at MOST of my powers as unusable. It may be the bad way 4e is geared towards focusing on ONE set of equipment. Does this get worse at Paragon?

OOC: I think things are going great and this is an interesting and fun new encounter style. And maybe at the end, we go squish :)

One question for KD though, when does the falling six (30 feet) happen? If I make a Storm Pillar ten feet below a kenku and it falls during its turn, will it move three times next to the pillar on its fall (and take three movement squares of damage)?

OOC: Sorry about that; Narvala doesn't know the rest of you all that well, and without her armor and her staff of defense (despite some poor writing on my part, she doesn't have it) she doesn't want any bad guys closer to her than she can manage.

OOC: Technically, one can only push up a flying or hovering creature and none of the creatures here are flying or hovering. Everyone is falling. You can pull a hovering or flying foe down (or push/slide one up) in the normal game (this was added as errata so that flying creatures could be pulled to the ground). Just like it is extremely difficult to jump 5 feet up into the air (and impossible to push a non-flying foe on the ground into the air with a power), it should also be impossible to push a foe 5 feet up into the air with a power (unless the power states that it can do that). Pushing a flying or hovering foe (at least to me) means that the foe is supplying most of the upwards locomotion. One could rule that since the foes cannot move sideways or down easily either, that forced movement doesn't work in those directions either, but that seemed overkill.
