Before the group leave the tower, they gather the books and notes they think they needs. They also takes the Warden's sword as they won't be able to carry the body out of there.

The group climb down, but Georg and Hadrak have an hard time with climbing down the rope and both nearly break their neck. By the time they recover form the fall, they hear voice, and see one of the Master of the academy and some students coming after them, shouting to surrender.

[SBLOCK=OOC]The weapon of the Warden is a Stormbiter Bastard Sword +2

Hadrak takes 28 damages: Fall Damage (4d10=28)

The group is forced to take a short rest (and you can spend HS if you wish) here so Hadrak and Georg can recover, allowing the Academy Guard to find you. You have 2 options:

A) Flee => Skill Challenge (Difficulty => 4/2; Primary Skill: Athletics, Endurance; Any individual failure, the person is at the trail of the group and will be the target of arrows...)
B) Fight => Attack the Master and the guards.

Georg: 51/52, HS 8/10, AP 1, Cloak of Resistance, Horrid Whispers
Dane: 64/66, HS 6/12, AP 0, Villain's Menace
Incarnation: 43/69, HS 11/12, AP 1, Tyrannical Threat
Hadrak: 3/57, HS 7/9, Shield of Faith
Raiyek: 60/62, HS 8/11, AP 0, Lay on Hand x1, Paladin's Judgment, Cloak of Resistance

If I made a mistake with above stats, tell me.[/SBLOCK]

[sblock=OOC]Dane tried to take the Warden's body; if he cannot carry it, we can always just chuck it over (its already dead, after all). That doesn't work, Incarnation will cut off a hand or finger (as you only need part of the body for the ritual and Incarnation isn't squeamish).

In addition, looks like your using the old Skill Challenge rules (4/2). All SCs are now three failures before failing. Or are you using a different system?

Incarnation spent 2 HS to get to full:
- Incarnation: 69/69, HS 9/12, AP 1, Tyrannical Threat[/sblock]The warforged does not look back. We must be gone. He vanishes into smoke, his construction making him implacable. He will not stop. Ever.[sblock=Endurance]19. He has Shadow Walk up since he's moving.[/sblock]

Miss that. If you want to carry the body of the Warden, the person carrying him will have a -2 penalty to all physical check for the skill challenge (Str, Dex and Con based skills). The group, as a whole, will also have a -2 to all Cha skill check, except Intimidation (people carrying a body should be feared and not trusted).

At anytime, you can come with a creative way to remove this penalty. Surprise me!

I wasn't aware of that change. Anyway, at each skill challenge, I'm always using some homerule. I'll make the rules of this skill challenge clear for all from now:

1) This skill challenge will go in step.

2) Each step will always be 5 skill check (not including help another), and you need 4 success to be successful and have no bad consequence.

3) The DC will vary, and that will make. For example, climbing down was at 15.

4) I'll give the Primary skill that are the obvious one, but come with a Secondary skill with interesting explanation (like Hadrak Endurance), and you get the Primary DC difficulty.

5) I'll also show you the time, which will be 1 or more turns. That the number of turns you have to complete the skill challenge. That will also help you to decide if you wish to use help another. But a turn might be, IC, minutes or hours and turn is not necessarily relative to time IC.

6) Automatic success is possible too. Use of power during skill challenge (like the spidersilk cloak power) is a good way, for example. You can give me a good description too.

7) Failure of the skill challenge might give you a personal consequence. I'll announce the personal failure in advance. Those will happen only if you have 2 or more failure for the team.

8) Team failure will depend on the number of failure. For example, after the climbing, 1 failure would have mean everyone get out harmlessly and you get away before the academy master is on you. 2 failures gave you the time for a short rest before the academy master catch on you, and people who failed had fall damage. 3 failures would have mean no short rest possible, but you still have time to flee. 4 or 5 failures would have mean they would have catch on you and force the fight. The consequence of a team failure will not be announced in advance.

9) At the end of each step, you'll have a choice to do. If I forget it, you can always decide to do something else... Surprise me!

I hope this is clear. If you have suggestion or questions, you can always tell me, I'll take note of them. What I like in this kind of challenge is I feel it will be more pro-active for the player.[/sblock]

And away we go . . .

Dane stands over the Warden's body and looks on toward the incoming guards. His armor reforms itself like it did within the tower top and he draws his axe is a ready fashion, throwing it back and forth between his left and right hands.

Alright boys, steady ye self!

He then looks behind him and sees the dust trails made by his companions. Dane shakes his head, but for a brief moment a sigh of relief comes over his face. Dane puts away his axe, picks up the Warden and starts to trot off as best as he can away from the temple.

[sblock=HPs] Dane should be at full hit points [/sblock]

As I said, you just had a short rest, so you can spend HS (and as you had a short rest after the fight too, you have all your encounter power to use before the short rest).

But because you were forced to take a short rest. On master of the academy found you and you are not in a chase instead to be safe and away from the academy. That's the consequence of the 2 failure. And as I said in my previous post, it would have been worst if you had more failure, so each roll count.[/SBLOCK]

[SBLOCK=OOC]When someone doesn't post, I'll use the best Primary skill to roll with: Atheltic roll (1d20+6=18) Success... just because he didn't had his shield and armor on.[/SBLOCK]

The group starts to flee, but Hadrak seems annoyed by his injured ankle he has hurt in his fall. Raiyek, refusing to leave someone behind grab the dwarf by the shoulder to lighten his weight on his broken ankle. A few arrow land a few feet behind them, but they are able to catch up the group and the group quickly hide in the mountain.

Rurdev find a spot for the group to hide. As the group rest, he tells to the group. "We need to reach back the portal before they catch us... remain here a moment, I'll go erase out tracks." Rurdev leave the group while they plan there next step.

[SBLOCK=OOC]You have three choices in front of you:

A) Flee by the road (fastest) => Skill Challenge (Difficulty => 4/2; Primary Skill: Bluff, Perception, Streetwise; No individual failure)
B) Flee, avoiding the road (safest) => Skill Challenge (Difficulty => 4/2; Primary Skill: Nature, Perception, Stealth; No individual failure)
C) Suprise me! [/SBLOCK]
