[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

Son of Meepo

First Post
As the next boggle appears, Wat calls down bolts from the heavens. While one of the fey creatures gets out of the way, the newest one is grazed by the bolt, sending a charge down the length of its body.

Immediate Reaction: Divine Bolts (BT3, BSS) (1d20+6=10 Ref, 1d6+5=7, 1d20+6=17 Ref, 1d6+5=9)

Wat focuses more of his divine fury through his staff calling powerful claps of thunder from the gem that serves as its focus.

Standard: Thunder of Judgement (1d20+6=17 Fort, 1d6+7+2=10, 1d20+6=13 Fort, 1d6+7+2=10)

If BT3 is hit, it is pushed to D5 and dazed after taking 10 thunder damage.
If BSS is hit (doubtful with that roll), it is pushed to D6 and dazed after taking 10 thunder damage.

Wat then closes with the boggle, ready to help Zuri should she escape.

Move: J5

Nemesis Destiny

Adventurer
Sabynha was heartened by the success of her last attack, despite the beating she took. At least she drew the devils away from her wounded companion, and besides that, she wasn't as hurt as the boggles would like to believe.

She spotted Sir Flibbertigibbet dancing erratically above her head, leaking pixie dust on her, and getting dangerously close to the other boggle, whom she was hoping to keep at bay while they finished off the first one. She needed to get him clear...

"I hope this doesn't hurt you," she said, her voice oozing with apologetic undertones in case it actually did hurt. It is for his own good, she told herself. The vistani gracefully reached up with her buckler hand, plucked the pixie from the air and flung him vigorously away from their attackers.

Then, she seized her moment; she continued to rain blows upon the dazed boggle with her dance of blades, in the hope of felling it, or at least driving it away long enough for her injured companion to regain his composure. Her blade struck true, again and again. The display must have given the pixie hope that they could get out of this mess alive...

Rain covers the Boggle that clawed Zuri with her Aegis of Shielding and steps back out of Zuri's way, calling "This way, girl," and tapping Zuri on her shoulder. Then, when in the clear, she charges at the other Boggle flanking Sabynha, but it sees her approach and ducks under Rain's clumsy attack.

Zuri is so startled by the sudden appearance of the Boggle that clasped its hands over her face, that her first attempt to pull away almost tips her into the thorny hedge. Regaining her composure, she yanks herself away from her assailant, her momentum almost sending the Boggle into the hedge as well. She shifts sideways, following Rain and brings up her dagger in a garde postion, panting with the effort.

[sblock=Rain's actions]Minor Action: Use Aegis of Shielding on Boggle Trickster 3.

Aegis of Shielding (Minor Close burst 2 Arcane)
Target: One creature in burst
Effect: You mark the target. The target remains marked until you use this power against another target. If you mark other creatures using other powers, the target is still marked. A creature can be subject to only one mark at a time. A new mark supersedes a mark that was already in place. If your marked target makes an attack that does not include you as a target, it takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls. If that attack hits and the marked target is within 10 squares of you, you can use an Immediate Interrupt to reduce the damage dealt by that attack to any one creature by 8 points of damage.

Move Action: Shift from H6 to H7.

Standard Action: Charge at Boggle Trickster 1, with combat advantage due to flank and charge bonus - Total to Hit = 15 - miss. Crap on a stick. Ends turn in H9.

Potential Interrupts: If BT1 attacks and there is a gap around H5, Rain will send BT1 off to attack a friend, preferably BT3, marked by her Aegis of Shielding.

Dimensional Vortex (Encounter, Immediate Interrupt, Ranged 10 Arcane, Implement, Teleportation)
Target: The triggering enemy.
Attack: +6 vs. Will
Trigger: An enemy hits an ally with a melee attack.
Hit: You teleport the target 5 squares. The target then makes its melee attack against a creature that you choose. If no creatures are within the range of the target, then the attack is expended.
Aegis of Shielding: If the target is marked by your Aegis of Shielding power, the target's melee attack deals 3 extra damage.

Aegis of Shielding is the second priority this go, as above.

Guardian's Counter might be used, if it is appropriate.

Guardian’s Counter (Encounter Immediate Interrupt Close burst 2 Martial)
Trigger: An ally within 2 squares of you is attacked and you are not included in the attack.
Effect: You and the ally shift 2 squares as a free action, swapping positions. You become the target of the triggering attack in place of the ally. After the attack is resolved, you can make a basic attack against the attacker.

All else failing, Rain may use Infernal Wrath if no allies are hit and she is.

Infernal Wrath (Encounter Free Close burst 10 Fire)
Target: The triggering enemy in the burst
Trigger: An enemy within 10 squares of you hits you.
Effect: The target takes 1d6+4 fire damage.

Others unlikely to kick in:

Leather Armour of Aegis Expansion +1 (Property, Encounter, Immediate Interrupt)
Trigger: Power (Encounter): Immediate Interrupt. Trigger: A creature you have marked with your Aegis of Shielding power targets you and at least one of your allies with an attack.
Effect: The damage of the triggering creature's attack damage is reduced by 6.

"Aaaaaah!" cries Sir Flibbertigibbet in surprise as he is tossed over the boggle's head. Daphne snorts, as if in amusement, but the doughty pixie rallies quickly, hitting the boggle over the head in a shower of ice. "Not to worry, my lady, not to worry!" he says from somewhere inside the cloud of ice particles.

[sblock=actions]Free shift 2 to F11. I'll be at ground level to flank BT2 with Sabynha.

Free second wind. Sir F spends a surge, gains 9 hp and +2 to defenses.

Standard: piercing shard vs Will (+2 flank), BT2; damage
12(1d20) +9 +2 = 23; 7(2d10) +9 = 16
. I'll assume 23 vs Will hits. 16 cold and psychic damage to BT2 and Sir F is invisible to it until EoNT. Just realized I don't need flanking as it's dazed, but whatever.

Move: Sir Flib to D11, Daphne to I12 just to give Sabynha a bit of room (remember her teleport aura if you want to get out of there).

If BT2 is still alive, AP to charge to F11 (1 square up): icy skewer vs AC (+1 charge, +2 CA), BT2; damage (+1d8 charge)
8(1d20) +9 +2 +1 = 20; 6(1d10) +9 +5(1d8) = 20
20 cold damage and Sir Flib gets a +2 bonus to defenses against BT2.[/sblock]

The boggle at the centre of the maze blinks out of sight only to appear below Sir Flib, reaching up and tearing vengefully at the wee pixie with vicious determination, moving out of Sabynha's reach and Rain's sight. The dazed boggle, meanwhile, throws itself into a reckless charge, intent on smashing in Zuri's skull. Rain turns her head a moment before the brutal impact ...

GM: I think it it important enough that Neil1889 decide how he wants to resolve his interrupt for the round, given the situation is not what he imagined due to the teleport power, and that a potential crit turned miss is on the line, not to mention Zuri's good health. I can't bring myself to make the call, nor make the dice roll.

[sblock=Actions] BT1 Dimensional Hop teleports 3 squares to E11; Claw vs Sir Flib 25 vs AC hits for 14 dmg
BT1 is not a valid target anymore for Dimensional Vortex as it has moved out of Rain's line of effect as Wat pointed out for his own Prepared Action earlier.

BSS claws Zuri 27 vs AC=Hit for 9 dmg
BT3 charges Zuri ending move at G5 Crits! for 17 MAX dmg: BT3 is a valid target for Dimensional Vortex interrupt... Otherwise Zuri drops below 0Hps

Pausing Turn there until @Neil1889 resolves how he wants to deal with this. [/sblock]

Rain had other ideas to foil the Boggle's plans...

[sblock=Interrupt]Hi jbear, BT3 should be marked but the last Status effect block says 'Boggle Sightstealer -9 HPs Marked (Rain Aegis)'.

Zuri's max Hit points are Rogue 12 + Con 12 +5 per level = 34.

34 - 7 damage (previous round) and now - 9 BSS - 17 BT3 (crit) would be 1 HP left, unless I'm missing something and apologies if that is the case.

Anyway, I think I can interrupt both, but I'd like to try and teleport BT3 and halt his critical. I'll attempt to hop him to H5 to attack the Sightstealer, along with the 3 extra damage if he hits.

Dimensional Vortex attack: total to Hit vs Will = 21 - should be enough!

I'll stop there regarding the hit rolls and damage. If this works, I think Zuri will be on 18 hit points.

GM: [MENTION=100292]Neil1889[/MENTION] Because when you tried to mark him BT3 was out of your range, so Rain was unable to mark it. I assumed you would want to mark someone, and BSS was your only valid target. If you don´t want to mark BSS, no worries, but BT3 was not a legal target at the time you marked it due to the push it received from Wat's power (D5). So no boggle would be currently under your aegis. Up to you, just make it clear in your next post.

21 is indeed a hit (Will is 13); Zuri's HP total was just an error on my part. You are correct. Crit averted=Zuri hale and healthy :)

Feel free to Roll BT3's attack vs BSS

You may all carry on with your next round turns now.

Wat slammed the end of his staff against the ground. A great clap of thunder sought to engulf the boggles. He pushes the closest one away from him and then summons a great burst of lightning from his staff.

Standard: Thunderwave (BT3, BSS) (1d20+6+2=9 Fort, 1d20+6=16 Fort, 1d6+7=9 thunder damage)
BSS takes 9 damage and is pushed to F5.
Action Point: Lightning's Revelation (BT3, BSS) (1d20+6+2=19 Ref, 1d20+6=7 Ref, 2d6+5+2=17 lightning)
BT3 takes 17 lightning damage and a -4 penalty to all defenses until the end of Wat's next turn.

...which bore a bitter fruit for her foes when the stunned Boggle then clawed his shocked and surprised friend!

[sblock=Dimensional Vortex]BSS as marked is fine and Thank-you. Interrogating jbear's Invisible Castle posts for the Boggles, I think this should be correct for BT3's attack vs BSS: Total to Hit = 19, Potential damage is 12.

Thanks, jbear. [/sblock]

OOC: I think BT3 should be in H5 and Wat pushed BSS to F5.

Zuri maintains her defence, perhaps concentrating on it too much as her attack goes wild.

Rain moves to cover Zuri's back from teleporting foes, but her own thrown blade goes wild as it disappears over a hedge and then comes back again to her outstretched hand. However, her magical shields remain ready.

[sblock=Rain's actions]Previously used Aegis of Shielding on Boggle Sightstealer. Mark is maintained.

Move Action: Shift from H9 to H7.

Standard Action: Rain throws her Farbond Spellblade as a Ranged Basic Attack at Boggle Trickster 3 - Total to Hit = 13, miss.

Potential Interrupts:

Aegis of Shielding is the first priority this go, as above.

Guardian's Counter might be used, if it is appropriate and it can turn a hit to miss or if Zuri gets hit twice.

Guardian’s Counter (Encounter Immediate Interrupt Close burst 2 Martial)
