[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

OOC:
5 THPs each at the beginning of each encounter until you level up to reward you for your achievement. You also gain +1 THP when you spend a healing surge which can stack with other THPs if you already have any.

OK, so if the +5 THP resets, then Rain will be 41 +5 THP out of 43 HP's with 5 Healing Surges remaining, so she'll be fine.

Zuri is currently 26 out of 34 HP's, so she'll spend a second surge (leaving her with 4 surges remaining) to bring her up to 34 out of 34 Hit Points, with the +5 THP reset.

Zuri sat down for while to look after her sore throat before joining Rain who had been considering the climb to the high windows.

"We could try entering the palace through the upper windows and I have the climbing kit to help, but is there anything that you can see that would help us gain access though the door?" asked Rain of Zuri.

OOC: Hi jbear, can we use the Leafy Keys again to open the front door? Is there anything that might lead us to think the door is trapped?

Also, how difficult might the climb to the upper stories be?

Sabynha searched Wat's face for any sign of genuine anger. He was poor at hiding such things.

"Yes... one at a time. You are right." She softened at his touch on her arm. Her expression tried to say many things at once. She blushed, and put her head down somewhat demurely, though she still looked up at him, part scolded puppy, and part playful vixen.

The vistani proceeded to bind the hands of the sleeping warriors with silk handkerchiefs, and dragged their axes over far enough that they would not be within easy reach.

OOC: Sabynha wasn't damaged, so she's at 38hp+5thp and at 6 or 7 surges.

After looking sheepish for a long moment, she was clearly unable to keep her ruse up any longer, and began to crack a full impish smile. She looked quickly about to make sure nobody else was watching, and leaned in and stole a kiss. Just for good measure, she pinched him before pulling away to tend to their captives.

GM: The keys opened the Maze and Gateway into the Garden. They disappeared when the maze disappeared.

The walls are challenging: Athletics DC 25 to climb

After the barbarians are bound, talk of opening the door leads the party to realise that the leaf keys disappeared with the maze. They had only bought them entry this far. The rest of the way they would have to pit their wits against the wiles of the fey that created this place.

Approaching the gate to evaluate the means to enter the party see that the polished mirrored metal on the palace doors reflect the beautiful garden and the pool, which itself reflects the upper reaches of the castle. The doors fail to display images of you, however, and they have neither handles nor keyholes. Above the doors, carved into the stone in Elven, are the words "To thine own self be true." Two tall columns-each carved to resemble a female elf warrior holding a scimitar-flank the doors like guards at attention.

Zuri answered Rain's question, "I think the walls might be very difficult, but the interesting thing is that while the mirrored doors do not reflect our image, the pool still does. That writing above the door reads, 'To thine own self be true.'"

Rain looked at the pool with interest and after a moments thought, tried to position herself in the garden so that her own reflection in the pool should be cast against the mirrored doors and still be visible to her as she viewed the portals; her image reversed by the watery mirror might be made correct again by the mirrored surface of the door, "Hopefully, that's what the clue is hinting at, she explained.

Sabynha listened to what Rain and Zuri were saying with interest, even while she tended their captives.

She tried to wake one of them gently, speaking softly, hoping to avoid an angry or vengeful response. She splashed a small amount of water in the face of the first man, "Return to us, from whatever nightmare Soryth had you trapped in."

She waited for a response. If he didn't come round, Sabynha had not ruled out slapping him...

OOC: Sir Flib will stay at 34/37, plus 5 temps.

Sir Flibbertigibbet peers at the doors, then at the reflecting pool. "Perhaps the pool itself is the entrance?" he wonders, flying back and forth just above the surface. After Rain tries her experiment, he pokes the water with his finger to break the surface and look at the bottom.

Although Rain's image lines up in the pool as though her reflection were at the door, her reflection does not in turn appear upon the shiny surface of the gate. What she does notice is that her reflection seems to be smiling more than she is.

Just as Sabynha is about to offer a sharp slap to wake the slumbering barbarians, their eyelids flutter open and they sit up with a groan holding their heads. "I feel worse then the morn' after Urtag's Wedding, Hamish ... Have ye been putting stoff in me drink again?" The other, Hamish, who you presume is the one who spoke's brother merely groans in agreement in response, but does not seem to have the strength to offer much of protest in response to the accusation. He does manage to spit out: "Thank you all fer beatin' sense back into us..."

Sir Flib meanwhile looks at the pool intently. Disturbing its surface causes the normal ripple you would expect from a pool. He sees no sign of any secret door at the bottom of the pond. The only thing he sees is his own reflection staring back at him intently.

"Glad to see you've taken it in stride. How much do you remember?" Sabynha was glad that the men weren't violent, and became hopeful that they could provide some insights that would be useful, but she wasn't quite ready to untie them just yet.

She offered the men some water to drink, and some trailbread from her supplies.
