[Adventure] A Chef's Request (DM:renau1g; judge: covaithe)

[sblock=OOC]Mal, when you and I posted, we didn't have initiative. Thus, our posted actions were rendered invalid - and now we have to react to the bad guys, who were supposed to act before the two of us did.[/sblock]

"They are slave because you act like they were slave. The dragon had prefer to sacrifice them so he could flee and have his life instead to give a chance to the kobolds to flee. Brown dragon are renown for being merciless and dictatorial, and everyone knows that dragonborns are the same that their respective dragon, that's common knowledge. I'm quite sure the kobolds here are well aware of that fact by being around you." replies Calisto

[SBLOCK=OOC]Calisto should be at N4, she walked there when she spoke to the brown dragon.

Start: Regen 2 => 30/30
Standard: 1d20+12=21

Would have like to use Raving Thought on him, but he was just out of range.[/SBLOCK]

"Hey, watch who you're stereotyping, devilspawn!" J'ryi growls, angered by his companion's unintentional barb. "I didn't spend the best years of my life in martial service just to be compared to a red dragon!" He visibly shudders, then refocuses his rage on the kobolds blocking his way - though he is careful to temper his anger. "Sorry kids, this is for your own good!" He releases his dragon breath as a concussive blast of heat, knocking away the two miners standing in front of him. Emboldened by the efficacy of this attack, he springs into the room, locking his gaze onto one of the dragonborn in the back of the room. "You sorry cowards - I'll show you how a real dragonborn fights!" He yells, charging straight at the nearest one, weaving past the loose formation of kobolds. He slams into the other dragonborn, bowling them over, and immediately sets upon them with sword and fist, wrenching his brown counterpart into a vice grip.

[sblock=Actions]Minor: Dragon Breath, J6 to L8; hits Miner 1 and Miner 2. Miner 1: 1d20+6=26 vs. Reflex; Miner 2: 1d20+6=26 vs. Reflex! Damage: 6+2=8 (Critical hit). A Double crit! - but dealing nonlethal damage to both. Move: Walk to H8. Standard: Charge to D13, using Takedown Attack on Dragonborn 1 instead of a melee basic attack. Takedown Attack: 1d20+7=18 vs. Fortitude. If hit, Dragonborn 1 is knocked prone and takes 1d10+4=9 damage. Assuming that we reached a milestone last encounter, I now have an Action point that I want to spend. Standard: Grappling Strike on Dragonborn 1: 1d20+6=25, 1d10+4=10 damage, and Dragonborn 1 is grabbed by J'ryi UEoNT - and I doubt it's an issue for now, but I'm dealing nonlethal damage to these guys as well.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]That went far better than I thought it would - way too many rolls for my nerves! Also, I'm presuming that I did not have enough time in that mess of actions to perform any sort of skill check for the challenge (only thing I would've been able to contribute was Intimidate, anyways, and I think the stunt I just pulled is more effective than that skill check would have been anyways.[/sblock]

Nejs moves closer to get a better look a the dragonborn, trying to find signs of doubt or weakness to use against them.

[sblock=Nejs]
There's no penalty for using Common, just a +1 bonus for speaking in their language [/sblock]

Fissure steps forward carefully, ignoring the kobold's strikes at him. Standing next to the table, he puts his arms up in a concilatory gesture to the kobolds. He tries to let his posture speak for him, but his gestures aren't exactly helpful.

Ghorgor flails around with his big hammer but lacks precision.

The dragonborn focus their efforts on J'yri, the uninjured one fails to overcome the fighter's defenses. The grabbed one slips free of J'yri's grip and stabs the fighter with a powerful blow. He then leaps into the air, over J'yri's head and then quickly turns around unleashing a gout of hot sand, similar to the dragon's previously, although much less powerful. His blood pumping the dragonborn attempts to finish off J'yri, but it is to no avail. "Bah! I'll have you next time and then they shall see who they shall serve!" he shouts, pointing to the kobolds. "Now get them!" he adds

[sblock=Skill Challenge]

The kobolds appear unsure of how to act when faced with the party's sudden arrival. Caught between desires for freedom and fear of the dragon's underlings, the kobold's loyalty is torn.

Currents Status:
3/6 successes; 2/3 failures - bonus success for the crit. <- kobolds take the # of successes as penalties to attack rolls representing their acceptance of your offer.

Complexity
2 (requires 6 successes before 3 failures).
Primary Skills
Bluff, Diplomacy, Streetwise

Other Skills
Heal, Insight + any others that you may think of ...

Special: Unconcious PCs
Each PC that is reduced to 0 hit points or fewer results in a failure on the challenge as the kobolds lose confidence in the PCs' ability to overcome the thugs.

Special: Injured Dragonborn
Each of the DB that the party bloodies or reduces to 0 or fewer hit points results in a success on the challenge as the kobolds gain confidence in the PCs' ability to overcome the thugs. [/sblock]

[sblock=Enemy Actions]

DB moves to flank and then attacks J'yri - vs ac; dmg (1d20+10=15, 1d8+6=14) miss

DB1 - Move - acrobatics (1d20+9=18) escape. Standard: End over End Strike - vs ac; dmg (1d20+10=21, 1d8+6=10) hits for 10 then shifts to C12. Minor: Dragon breath - vs ref; dmg (1d20+6=14, 1d8+2=9) just hits for 9. Uses AP to attack again - vs AC; dmg (1d20+8=12, 1d8+6=11) miss

Dragonshield - charge Fissure - vs AC; dmg (1d20+8=24, 1d8+4=8) forgot -3 but it doesn't matter hits for 8
Slingers - [vs AC on J'yri; dmg (1d20+6-3=22, 1d8+4=10, 1d20+6-3=5, 1d8+4=8, 1d20+6-3=7, 1d8+4=12, 1d20+6-3=22, 1d8+4=8) Ok so the first shot would drop J'yri, 2nd 22 will be for Ghorgor (sadly this just hits...ok so they need a 19 or 20 to hit, ouch). This generates 1 failure.

[/sblock]

[sblock=Stats]
Dragonshield: AC 18, F/R/W: 14/13/13
Slinger: AC 13; F/R/W/: 12/14/12

[SBLOCK=OOC]Can Calisto retries with a skill she was successful or she needs to use a new skill?

Also, does Nejs Insight roll had any effect on the Skill Challenge?[/SBLOCK]

Calisto feels that it's the time to act. "They won't serve weaklings like both of you!" Calisto send two wave of psychic energy that heavily hit the dragonborns. "Get those two spawns!"

[SBLOCK=OOC]Standard: Dishearten Augment 2 vs Will on Dragonborn, Dragonborn1, Slinger2 (1d20+5=22, 1d20+5=18, 1d20+5=21, 2d6+6=11)

Each enemy hit takes -4 to hit UEoNT. Damage is not lethal as a kobold was included in the area.

Action Point: Ravening Thought vs Will on Dragonborn (including Black Wrath of Hell if it hit) (1d20+5=21, 2d6+6+1d10=17) If it hit: 17 damages

Minor: Distract on Dragonborn

If everything have hit (much likely considering their known defenses):
Dragonborn1: 11 psychic damage and -4 to hit UEoNT
Dragonborn: 28 psychic damage, ongoing 5 psychic damage, -4 to hit UEoNT, -4 to hit (save ends), grant CA on next attack.
Slinger2: 11 psychic damage and -4 to hit UEoNT

Dragonborn1 should be bloodied (1 success)
Dragonborn, is at 4 damage of getting bloodied by the ongoing damage (and thus, another success)
That would leave only 1 success to get on the skill challenge...[/SBLOCK]

Willow moves into the room and eyes the cluster around the fallen J'ryi. "If you stand with them, you will fall with them," she says. She raises her staff high into the air. Slithergleam lifts his head and flicks his tongue toward the draognborn as the temperature suddenly drops. A strong wind picks up the cold and shoves one of the dragonborn away from J'ryi, making a tighter cluster of enemies for an area caster.

[sblock=OOC]Move: 7 squares to J9
Standard: Chill Wind to D11
-vs. DB;hits for 1 damage; slide to E11
-vs. DB 1; miss
-vs. Sing 2; miss

Attacks: 1d20+5=15, 1d20+5=7, 1d20+5=8 Are you kidding me?!

Damage: 1d6=1 No... no you're not.
