[Adventure] Dusk and Her Embrace (Judge: THB)

Ghourra's weapon flies back to her hands. As soon as she catches it, she scrapes it along the floor to remove the bits of dead flesh from the blade. She slumps back against the wall to catch her breath.

"We should destroy that thing first unless they rise again while I am picking their pockets," Ghourra reponds to Brondin pointing at the glowing crystal.

OOC: Spending 2 surges.

Ghourra still has her inspiring word power available, so she can add a d6 to someone's healing surge value before taking the short rest.

Arcana (1d20+11=24)

"I'm not sure, but I'll take a look. As for the corpses, we would do well to simply burn them." Bellegon bends down and picks up the shard turning it this way and that, attuning himself to it's emanations.

"Could anyone heal me so I don't need to rest? I'll go scouting while you recuperate."

[MENTION=78756]Son of Meepo[/MENTION], could I use your healing for surge +1d6 + anything else anyone else thinks of to increase it to total of 20? If not, I'll use second wind and Brondin's heal to get to full without resting.

[MENTION=6671055]horticulture[/MENTION], would that be acceptable? If you rule that aura dissipates after 5 minutes regardless of rest then of course I'll recover the powers...

GM: The Darkspiral Aura specifically states that the aura drops to zero on a short rest or extended rest, so if you forgo the short rest, you can keep the aura at 4.

Also, I noted that the requirements to add one to the aura is dropping an enemy to zero or fewer hit points. I missed that previously, so keeping the current aura count is no issue, but we'll have to remember that for future combats.

[sblock=Arcana or Religion 10]The power radiating off of the shard is obviously of a necrotic origin and, being an apparent creation of Katashka, a divine ritual could possibly destroy the artifact.[sblock=Religion 15]The small altar in the rectory could be reconsecrated to Onatar and, beseeching the god of the forge, be used to destroy the shard permanently.[/sblock][/sblock]

GM: Remember, on nested checks like this, you only get one check.

It's dropping the enemy to zero OR bloodying it with my bloodcurse rod :) In the first case, it is irrelevant who drops it only that it was cursed. In the second, Bellegon needs to bloody it (so if my attack bloodied it, I got 4th level) and once it dropped dead I got 5th. That should be final level of the aura...

"This was created by Katashka, but I cannot discern it's full function."

Religion (1d20+6=10)

OOC: Tana has a +15 bonus to arcana, and so cannot fail a DC 10 check. On the other hand, all she's got going for her on religion is being really smart and experience Religion Check (1d20+7=16) ... which is good enough.
"I think it likely that if you re-consecrated the altar Onatar, a divine ritual could be created to destroy that object." Tana tells the others.

GM: *shake fist* Darn magic items, I say. ;)
