As soon as the constructs begin to move forward, Devlin fires his crossbow at the stone construct. After that, provided he hasn't been overrun by the bronze critters, he drops his crossbow and draws his rapier.

Greforian smiles and shouts "GOOD JOB!" to Sharrif as he starts to raise the gate. Only a few more seconds, and then I'll have the help I need to finish this creature he thinks as he continues to dodge.

Gregorian and Shariff
As Shariff turns the wheel, Gregorian continues to defend himself (5 rolled).

In front of the Gate 1/4
As the gate slowly creeps upwards, Sullivan cowers against the wall. Before anyone else can react, the first of the bronze devices races forwards, diving for Gur's body. (19 rolled+2, 19 rolled+2, 8 damage to Gur). Corix quickly casts mage-armor on Gur after stepping away from the constructs and into Devlin's space. A second construct scurries across the ground at Gur blade warmed up to a cutting edge, (20 rolled+2, 12, 3 damage).

The stone creature hobbles forwards slowly, barely able to move it's massive weight forwards. Gur quickly reacts to his threats and attempts to protect himself with his staff (Full Defense Action). A third construct rushes forwards, hobling past one of it's companions and leaving itself open to an attack, while it dives for Corix leg. (1 rolled for attack of opportunity, 10 rolled for attack (miss)). Corix evades his agressor, and Devlin having just fired his crossbow at the stone construct (6 total, miss), now draws his rapier in hope of defending himself (possible AO for something, 5 total, miss). Now another construct makes it's way over to Gur and it's compatriots to make hasty murder of the ranger (18+2 rolled, miss), but Gur's defense and the protection provided by Corix keep him from bleeding unconcious for now.

Just before Argus can heft his waraxe into one of the creatures, it dives for Sullivan (17+2 rolled, 4 damage), causing him a wound that still does not match his terror at his current predicament. Now Argus bring his axe down (16 rolled, a hit, 4 damage) and takes a chunk out of the armor of the nearest construct. The last construct makes it's attack on Gur (4+2 miss), but fails to peirce his ward from Corix.

Now Sullivan, for fear of his own demise, quickly unferls a scroll from a compartment within his vest, and attempts to cast a mage armor spell on himself. The nearest construc attempts to strike at him during hist casting (8+2 rolled), but fails to hit the spellcaster. Sullivan now surrounds himself in a protective barrier similar to the one summoned by Corix.

Silvercat continues to dream of Impossibe landscapes, voluptuous Nymphs cavorting about, drinking wine and frolicking as only Nymphs do...

"Everyone on this side of the Gate! Hurry. don't let the constructs in keep them lined up at the gate." Shariff says thinking he's so freeking clever.

Devlin continues to weave his rapier in front of him, warding off the metal monsters. As soon as the gate is up far enough, we moves backward to the other side of the gate.

OOC: fighting defensively as a standard action

Let me check something, when the gate is halfway up (at initiative 18 this round) will everyone be rolling under the gate in hopes of being safe? The gate will remain open till after everyone is on the other side, then I assume that the chain is released.
