Adventure: Escort Duty (DM: KarinsDad, Judge: TBD)

OOC: The point of that post wasn't to give anyone else tactical information. It is simply a way for me to express my characters thought process (ie, getting into character) without having to actually express a specific action on her part. If you would prefer that all of Rava's posts include only the things that other characters would be able to experience first hand, I can do so.

OOC: Thanks. There's no issue with minor comments for a bit of flavor, but that one went into fairly heavy detail about her suspicions which in turn would get other players thinking in those directions, even though they might not have otherwise. If Rava says her suspicions out loud or pulls a fellow PC off to the side during a break, then Jasper would have the opportunity to notice, etc. IMO, the game makes more logical sense if the PCs are not telepathic with their ideas (shy of Hilkalas relaying conversations mentally), in or out of combat.

Btw, Rava doesn't notice anything (if I don't mention what the PC notices, it's not that I am ignoring the player, it means that there is nothing there to notice, but I should get in a better habit of putting in OOCs anyway). Jasper is more concerned with keeping Pumpkin under control than he is the woman.

OOC: Not a lot of comments on the girl in the last four days, so I am moving us on.

The rest of the day is wet, miserable, and cold. The group eventually ends up at the Hooting Owl Inn a few hours after dark. The mud probably slowed down the group a bit. The promise of warmth and dryness seems very inviting, even for the less alive member of the group. Even Pumpkin seems subdued and doesn't bother to bark or growl at anyone in the inn, preferring to just lay down tired.

The Hooting Owl has only a few patrons, huddled near the fireplace to keep warm. With it being a days walk from the city, it seems an ideal location for those heading north and to a lesser extent, those heading south. But with the weather being what it is and possibly due to the month of the year, it seems that most people are either staying away, or might be up in their rooms if they are merchants.

The last few miles brought a more consistent rain with some thunder thrown in, instead of the heavy drizzle that fell most of the day. Tomorrow might be worse than today was.

"Hey, don't bring that wet mutt in here." the innkeeper shouts out.

"She's not hurting anyone." Jasper replies. "Please bring me a towel so I can dry her off and she won't be a problem. Or do you want to argue with him about it?" Jasper points at the undead elf. Seeing Sirrah, the innkeeper gulps, quickly brings a towel out and asks "What can I do for you fine folk? It's a gold piece to get a hot meal, drink, and a place to stay.". Looking at Sirrah, he hastily adds "Only 5 SP for a bed if you aren't going to eat or drink anything".

"The vitality of the living has been breathed into once dead flesh. Why would I not need to nourish it as others do."

Sirrah turned those same cold eyes to Jasper.

"You heard the man, one gold... each, or would you choose to forgo the protection you have hired us to provide for the evening."

The last he said with a hint of menace, but the message was clear, "you have hired us, thus you will pay our expenses as well."

OOC: As far as a I can tell there is no rule saying revenants do not have to eat or drink.

"But, but, ... we already agreed that you would pay for your own travel expenses." Jasper says with a stutter.

OOC: I cannot seem to be able to link to individual posts with the new ENWorld like I could in the past, but in post 16 Jasper said he couldn't afford to pay the inn for anyone but himself. Not that anyone explicitly agreed to that, but that apparently is how Jasper sees it.

Also, I think that revenants have to eat, drink, and sleep as well, but that doesn't mean that people like the innkeeper necessarily understand that.

OOC: Sirrah is trying to gauge Jasper's honesty. He assumes he could be intimidating enough that if Jasper was lying about the money he would scare him into paying. Do you need an intimidate check?

OOC: If you want to intimidate him into paying, then go ahead and make an Intimidate check. If you want to gauge his honesty, go ahead and make an Insight check as well.

Jasper looks into Sirrah's eyes for a second, startled at his tone. He then reaches into his belt pouch and pulls out some gold.

"No need to be hasty." Jasper says as he pays the innkeeper.

[sblock=Sirrah]Sirrah thinks that Jasper is genuinely afraid of him now. Sirrah doesn't notice anything else.[/sblock]
