[Adventure] Hysteria's Ascendency (Judge: Stonegod)

Croc-Attack: Round 4
[sblock=Previous Rounds]Round 1
Round 1a
Round 2
Round 3[/sblock]
Orsik doesn't comment on Mangore's jabs, but his weapon glows brighter as he brings it down. A clap of thunder blasts the croc almost thugging him out of Muzdum's hands. "Here, Muzdum, this will help some." goliath draws a quick rune, this one bright blue which settles onto a dwarf removing some of his injuries. The rune tinkles like a crystal and pieces of it fly to everyone in Orsik's group, putting thin layer of extra defense over them. "I trust you can finish him by yourself, it seems Quan and Braddock miss Rikka." Orsik moves over his mere presence causing big croc to lash out with more caution then strength. (HIT)
[sblock=Metavoid & Voda Vosa]I did use the DR for damage Orsik took from the AoO/OA.
No I didn’t include DR 5 so Muzdum gains 5 hp.[/sblock]
"What? Am I too much of a challenge fer ye little lizard? Take this!" Repeating the pulling the tail and smack in the head, Muzdum delivers a quick punch, and then gripping the axe with both hands, he slashes at the were crocodile in a flash. (HIT)

"Hold down the fort there, laddie. I'll be right back." Braddock circles north so he can get around behind the were-croc, then charges with a brutal yell, slamming his hammer into its back. It appears that under the assault of the goliath and two dwarves, the were-croc falls lifeless. (HIT & kills Mangore)

Quan slams both hands into the sides of the visejaw's head, knocking it aside. Then he twists to escape its grasp. Moving next to Orsik the elf become a dispersed swarm again. (HIT)
[sblock=johnmeier1]Orsik moved to N9 so I’ll say you shifted to N8 instead[/sblock]
The werecrocodile slumps to the ground as the last of his life-blood spills to the floor. His shape becomes indistinct momentarily, and then his natural goliath form replaces the lycanthropic lizard form.

The giant crocodile hisses madly as it sees Mangore’s body fall to the ground. It becomes enraged and scuttles forward lashing out at the nimble elf and the large goliath with its tail before righting itself and then it takes a quick snap of its jaws at Quan.

GM: Encounter is over. Muzdum make sure you roll for Filth Fever.

I’ll let you guys take an Extended Rest if you want or press on after a short break. Either way, let me know how many surges are spent.

As the last dregs of life leak from the crocodile, a tremendous roar booms from the tunnel you entered from. Suddenly a familiar feline form jumps through the air to land at the base of the steps leading into this room. It its mouth is a dead humanoid, dressed like the wererats you have faced before. Apparently, Rikka has rejoined the group and has a present for everyone.
GM: Searching Mangore's corpse for loot you find a sack of gold (430gp) and a gold ring set with a jade stone (250gp - non-magical), obviously payment by Baldwin for your deaths.

[sblock=RETRY: Skill Challenge]*GOAL : You are trying to find the location of the wererat’s den.

*Complexity: 2 (6 successes before 3 failures)
Status: 0 successes / 0 failures

*DC: All DCs are 15

*Skills: You can use any skill that you can reasonably explain. Any explanation I feel doesn’t correspond with the given skill, I will impose a -2 penalty to it.

*Rolls: Stage 1: Everyone must roll one skill check per round. No need for initiative rolls, just keep track of who has gone and who needs to go. The same rules apply for skill challenges as apply for encounters (48-hour rule, etc).

*Repeating the Same Skills: Any character repeating the same skill check in two successive rounds will impose a -2 cumulative penalty to the triggering roll (i.e. -2 for second check, -4 for third check, etc.)

*Critical Success: A natural 20 counts as 2 successes OR 1 success and remove 1 failure.

*Aid Another: You can roll to aid another PC. Using the new compendium rules, a roll of 10+1/2 the rolling PC’s level or higher grants a +2 to that player’s skill check, while a failure grants a -1 penalty to that player’s skill check. A successful aid another roll does not count towards the total number of successes.

*Primary Skill:
[FONT=&quot]Dungeoneering: Any player who attempts this skill check gains a +2 to their roll (unless making the same skill check, then see above for cumulative penalties).[/FONT][/sblock]

"Here you are, Rikka! Did you find ratmen den?"

OOC: Spend one surge to get to full. If possible, I'd use TWO short rests in order to preserve 1 surge to Quan (he would get surge +1d6 from Rune of Mending). I'm for continuing, but Quan/[MENTION=73730]johnmeier1[/MENTION] may disagree :)

OOC: Braddock will spend one surge and be at 50/52 hit points and 6/11 surges

"Aye, tis nice to see ye again, Rikka. Now! Let's go find those rats."

Braddock again relies on Xandor's ancient knowledge and his own studies to attempt to find the way.
