"I think it is the child's...pet,"
"Maybe so, but its still a menace. It has probably killed innocent folks on the road, and the village would rest safer to see it dead."

"Take my greataxe," he says to the hobgoblin leader. "It is finely made and will fetch 150 in gold. I also have 35 pieces of platinum in my pack that I will add to that. That should fulfill the weregild."
"This sounds perfectly fair. I accept. However, I think you should keep that axe until after you duel Vrina--I can wait for it. Speaking of which, I guess you two should fight now--she's not going to back down after you killed her brother."

Could we have a party status report? Who's stabilized and who's up, at least?
(OOC:
Okey dokey,

Everyone is unconscious and stabilised except-

Tandi, who is at full and never took a hit.
A'jardin, who has 1 hit point left last I remember.
Scun, who was awoken by a healing potion.
Somac, who took a hit from an orc but still has a lot of hit points left for his duel against Vrina.)

Your hypocrisy truly knows no bounds. You wish to claim wirgild on comrades killed by the renders, both revenge and wirgild for a comrade killed by one of us, steal the equipment of the orks we defeated, and claim that it was you who defeated them, when you were actually hiding in the woods waiting for us to die!. (following shouted in goblin) [sblock]You are nothing but a bunch of common* thieves, but you have us at your mercy because we were nearly killed doing your work for you, so here A'jardin pulls out his scroll and throws it on the ground this is worth about 75 gold, it is all I have of value. But know this, I had no opinion of hobgoblins to this day, but I now know what conniving cowards you are!
OOC: *I would have put something else here if this weren't a family-friendly board, use your imagination. Also, A'jardin has completely lost it. It's a good thing he isn't a fighter and he doesn't have any spells left, otherwise he would have gone bezerk and attacked the hobgoblin leader.[/sblock] A'jardin pulls out his scroll and throws it on the ground in the middle of this goblinish tirade, then he storms off, shaking with rage, and helps Scun see to his fallen comrades as best as he can.

"Easy there, now. I believe the one who killed Garanth has already provided us with all the weregild for which we asked. Now, if you want to give us more, we would be honoured to accept it, of course. And please remember, I don't wish to claim an honourable duel over Garanth's death, that's that spoiled little girl's own doing and I have no part of it."

Edit:
Also, A'jardin has completely lost it. It's a good thing he isn't a fighter and he doesn't have any spells left, otherwise he would have gone bezerk and attacked the hobgoblin leader.
Ooo, how chaotic--that would have just proven the hobgoblins' point, though ;)

Anyways, I'm seeing a lot of interesting roleplaying here all around :)

OOC: I might be sabotaging our group here, but I have to point out the last part of the outburst was in goblin intentionally, I was assuming the other hobgoblins couldn't understand the conversation, but at the end A'jardin starts screaming at them about them being thieves and cowards in goblin, which they should all understand (using specific hobgoblin oaths and insults if A'jardin knows them.)

(OOC: Ah, it wasn't in the usual SBLOCK, so while I noticed it initially, I then forgot about it. Time for a reaction then (ooo, insulting them in a language nobody else can understand so that if they get mad at you it looks like they were being meaninglessly aggressive, sounds like an evil plan :)))

*Most of the hobgoblins stand their ground at A'jardin's comments, growling over it but not taking any action when the leader raises his hand in an attempt to prevent violence. But Vrina considers herself to be dead or banished already, so she ignores him and springs into action. Springing up next to the wizard, which allows A'jardin to see just how small and lithe she is compared to the muscular males, definitely a female based on the armour's contours despite the concealing helmet, Vrina grabs the wizard by the arm and breathes vehemently in lyrically accented Draconic:*
[SBLOCK]
"Liar--you awful evil liar!! You are a murderer and you dare to call us thieves!? Granted, Jiigral is a smug, arrogant bastard, and I don't know what he said to you, but he generally just wants what is best for the band. You don't want to pay a weregild? Are you that greedy and uncaring of the lives of others? Has he asked that much of you? You killed my brother! My brother! The only person in the world who...he...he is gone into darkness, leaving me...never mind. Jiigral may be self-righteous and pompous, and I dislike him for it too, which is why I'm speaking to you in this language of the kobolds, but those qualities are respected by Shural when the man shows leadership, so I will warn you, my equally-arrogant-and self-righteous murderer, that he is doing you a favour by not bringing the murderers among you back to town to be tried and executed.[/SBLOCK]

OOC: I wouldn't call it a "plan" so much as a "mental breakdown" A'jardin completely ignores them after he stops talking, he's trying to calm down (too late?)

(OOC: Ignoring Vrina too or did you type that before you noticed my new post? :D)

OOC: ignoring her until she grabs me anyway...

A'jardin tries to break free of the hobgoblins' hold (probably fails, he's a wimp) Shocked at being adressed in draconic, A'jardin seems to calm down.
Answering in formal Draconic:
[sblock]I am truly sorry for your loss. Your leader... A'jardin gets upset merely refering to him, but calms himself seems to be acting extremely mercenary about the entire situation. From what he has been saying to us, he seems to only care about making himself look self-righteous while robbing us on the highway. The one who was hit by the arrow was your brother? In that case any wirgild we pay is your due as next of kin, not Jiigrals. This scroll is all I have of value, it is yours with along with my apology for the pain we have caused you. Somac has agreed to pay the whole wirgild himself also. Please do not fight him, unless you are much stronger than you look he will kill you, and I doubt that is what your brother would want. Perhaps we could help you raise enough money to bring him back in time.[/sblock]

Adressing all the hobgoblins in goblin:
[sblock]I apologise for my words spoken in anger, perhaps Jiigral is the only liar and cheat among you. We will pay the wirgild to this one gesturing at the female Draconic to Varina:Sorry, I don't know your name[/sblock]

A'jardin picks up the scroll he dropped and hands it to the female goblin.
To the group(in common): This one is the sister of the hobgoblin we killed, I think we should give her the weregild. The scroll is worth 75 gold.

A'jardin starts stripping the nearest orc of it's belongings.
