Somac cries out at the pain of the sword's passing, then draws in a sharp breath. "I killed your brother in ignorance, then tried to make amends for it when I realized my error. But that wasn't good enough for you. Instead, you try to make a murderer of yourself now out of vengeance. In this way, you show yourself to be no better than any other beast I have put down."

Somac swings his axe again.

*Vrina slashes at Somac but fails to strike him due to her defensive precuations, but the barbarian once again strikes with a deadly blow that she cannot deflect, though she manages to divert the worst of it with her shield and save her life.*

And swings his axe yet again, aiming to end her misery as quickly as he can.

*Vrina nods at Somac and attacks again, missing her target but deflecting Somac's thrust with her own sword. This happens again. And again. Then finally, Vrina hits Somac just as Somac slashes into her once more, drawing clear red blood and leaving her staggered.*

*Vrina gasps, defeated and then drops her sword and shield and pulls off her helmet, long golden locks spilling out to fall behind her head like a flaxen waterfall...wait, hobgoblins can't have blonde hair!...Vrina is no hobgoblin! Though her lithe and unmuscular feminine body, originally noticed by A'jardin when he approached her, did not give it away, her face does. Though she retains the tufted ears of the hobgoblins and a somewhat flatter-than-normal chin, her nose appears human, she lacks any hint of jutting lower teeth, and her eyes are a very unhobgoblinish green. Her skin tone is a pretty shade of pinkish cream, something of a blend between the hobgoblin's reddish skin and a human's. This girl is notably beautiful by human standards, and yet she is still treated lowly by these hobgoblins, perhaps because she is not burly, muscular, and hairy.*

*Vrina's clear green eyes meet Somac's own similarly-coloured pair intently, as she rolls her head back, leaving her soft neck helpless and exposed. She says in Orcish*

*A tear rolls down her eye as she stubbornly squints to quash it, unwilling to show weakness, as she continues.*

Somac turns to walk away from her.

Then, loudly to the rest of the hobgoblins in Common:

"I have paid my debt by fighting your woman and sparing her life. No more will you get from me for the death of your comrade. I'll not risk my own life just to turn around and give you my treasure. That matter is closed."

Then, after a moment, "If you still want my 500, you'll get it by selling me the life of the remaining render."
