Seeing that none of her friends want to risk waking the render, Tandi determines that the hobgoblin was right in that she would have to explain the inevitability of life and death to the little girl. Looking back to her, she kneels down to the girl's level.

"Laynie? My name is Tandi. Where is your mom and dad?"

OOC:
[sblock]Rystil, can we please "fast-foward" past any more interactions with the hobgoblins. It has been a very interesting* encounter, but I would truly like to have as little to do with them as possible. My request is we gloss over the travel to the next town unless you have something else in mind, sell the orc equipment after getting it from the hobgoblins, and proceed from there, unless someone needs to buy something at the town. I don't have any craft skills, if someone else does and wants to work on the orc equipment, speak up.

*"interesting" as in I have never gotten angry at an NPC before, or hated one, until now.[/sblock]
OOC: I think we should finish this out, it should be fairly quick to get to town and be done with them. It should not take to much longer, and I think that the recovery time would do us all wonders.

OOC: It looks like a whole bunch of the characters want to not go with the hobgoblins to the town.
ooc: Then again, a bunch of characters are also unconscious. ;)

(OOC: Admittedly true. So its up to Somac, Scun, Tandi, and A'jardin to make that call. Seems like Somac and Scun just want to move on, Tandi is understandably more concerned with Laynie then the hobgoblins at the moment, and A'jardin really wants that orc gear.)

*Once it looks like things have cooled down, Jiigral says in Common.*

"Well, we're heading out to the village now. Now that we have all come to a consensus that did not involve you going crazy and attacking, please tend to your friends to your hearts' content. If you're not travelling with us, let me know if you want the orc gear and I'll leave it there for you. Otherwise, we will sell it ourselves and have your gold ready for you if we ever meet again."

OOC: There you go, have them sell it and leave the money for us there, and we can follow them a half day or so behind.

Mommy and Daddy sleeping... and they won't wake up.
Tandi is startled at this, realizing that could usually only mean one thing. "Laynie, Doggie is sleeping too. I don't think he will wake up either." Quickly changing the subject before Laynie has time to dwell on it, Tandi returns to talking about the girl's parents. "When did you last see your mommy and daddy?" She then takes the girl's hand and walks with her towards the rest of the group.

"Laynie, Doggie is sleeping too. I don't think he will wake up either."

*Laynie begins to cry uncontrollably, ignoring Tandi's next question, hugging the gray render and sobbing:*

"Doggie!! Don't leave me Doggie! I love you--I love you! I..."

*She breaks off unintelligibly, unable to speak, little tears dripping down her cheeks and onto the render's smooth gray flesh. She sobs for quite some time, but then, suddenly, she hears something and gives a start, brightening a bit, as she clears away her tears and says to Tandi*

"Ms. Lady...its gonna be OK! Doggie is still drinking air, so he'll wake up soon!"

OOC: I really don't care whether we go to the town or move on to the desert. I'll follow the group either way. But I am ready to move on from this encounter whenever it's decided what to do with the render.

IC:
Somac stays out of the render situation. He thinks there may be more to this render than meets the eye, but as he cannot heal anything himself, and doesn't have a rapport with the child, he leaves the issue to Tandi and Scun.

On the road (wherever they're going) he tries his best to explain his own voluntary exile to Vrina. He explains that he accepts her as a kindred spirit, them both being exiles and sharing several physical features, along with intense loyalty.

To himself, Somac hopes that she will become as loyal to the party as she was to her half-brother.

Scun begins using the wand on the party members that are unconscious to get them at least good enough to walk around. (heal until all of the original party has >4 hp)
