"Cade I dont know why you are still arguing with that girl. I dont know what she is saying, but its probably some self-righteous tripe. The hobgoblins brought our attack down on themselves. They left a little girl in the middle of a battle with renders. Risking the little girl's life like that, since they had more than enough people to spare one to move her, left us no choice but to assume they were evil. We may have been wrong, but their lack of concern over a child's life precipitated our actions."

"Because by saving that beast, we become responsible for its future actions. Especially since those Hobgoblins witnessed the event. A giant beast is not a suitable guardian for a child. I think we should head to that town, bringing the child with us. Someone will be able to put the child to work there and give her shelter. And we can recoup some money from this encounter."

"I make it out to be black and white? You're the one who inspired the murder of my brother just because he was a hobgoblin...Why did you charge in racial hatred before talking, instead of talking before charging? Maybe some day, I will understand this line of thought, but right now, it seems like evil to me."
[/SBLOCK]
Cade replies in goblin [sblock]"Simply because I lead the charge does not mean I alone inspired the murder of your brother. There are others among us who have similar experiences to mine with your kind. You make it out to be black or white not understandin that people make decisions and mistakes. This blood is on my and my companion's hands, and we will have to live with that for the rest of our life. I did what I thought was right at the time, and all I can do is appologize for my mistakes and move on, for I can not change them, only learn from them.

In the heat of the moment, you are sometimes required to make tough decisions, and there's a chance they could be wrong. Did you ask this poor girl before you charged in to kill both reavers? Did you try to talk to the orcs to make sure their side of the story wasn't different and the villiage hadn't hired you out of hatred of orcs? Have you ever made an assumtion about anyone based on a lifetime of experience dealing with their kind?

I don't expect you to simply accept my appology, but before you rush to judge, the same mistake you accuse me of, perhaps you should take the time to learn what is realy going on beyond what appears so obvious to you now. It appears you'll be coming with us, so perhaps you best leave your judgements of us now behind and instead try to see beyond the exterior. Your bretherine seemed to have little respect for you as a half-breed and as a woman, don't let that make you quick to judge others in a similar manner.

Now, can you speak the common tongue, or would you perhaps like me to help teach it to you? If you're coming with, it would be nice if everyone else could speak with you as well."[/sblock]

Cade turns to Rillan "We fought and killed because we thought it was the right thing to do at the time. And while I will stand by my actions then, it does not mean that I enjoy the blood on my hands as a result. It appears she will be comin with us, and I'd rather get our grievences aired and delt with before they cause a problem, but I'm ready to move on whenever. We should head to this town to recover the items and rest up a bit. Perhaps we can aquire some more healing materials as well, for I'm sure our supply is a bit depleated."

"Tandi, if the little girl would like, she can ride Alton and I can walk for a while."

Anton sits up, a little dazed, and holds his head. Immediately realizing something is wrong, he looks in his immediate vicinity, picks up his hat, and replaces it on his head. Now satisfied, he makes his way to his feet and looks around to make sure there is no threat of danger nearby, when he notices the conversation. "What is..." Anton pauses to collect his thoughts -- his head still hurts a bit. "There is an issue at hand?"

Anton gets the gist of what is going on and nods, "Maybe it is best if we take the child with us to the next town that has those of a similar race?" Then he notices that not all the talk is in Common, but he doesn't recognized the language as any other that he knows. "Would someone please serve as a translator?"

"As long as you admit that the blood is on your hands and a mistake was made, unlike some of the others who actually made the preposterous claim that we were better off with your allies killing my brother, then I think we are one step closer to understanding each other...I...I don't know what to think...I'm sorry but I can't forgive you for killing my only family...not yet."
[/SBLOCK]

Tandi smiles. "Have it your way. " She kneels down and starts explaining to the little girl that they need to bring her to the town to find her a 'suitable' guardian. Though Tandi doubts that such a person exists. She is almost tempted to send her to Tandi's home in Helatia and provide her family with another daughter. As she is explaining the situation to Laynie, causing no end of tears from the girl, Tandi casually glances at Scun and then back to the girl. "I'm sorry Laynie, but there is nothing I can do. The grown-ups have spoken. I do have an idea though, if you are interested." Tandi then goes on to explain about her home in Helatia and the concept of a new mommy and daddy for her. While she is doing this, she thanks Cade and places Laynie atop of the riding dog.

As I see it, there are three options concerning the girl. We can leave her with the render, we can take her and the render with us, or we can take her and leave the render. I'm assuming the first option will not be taken, and the second is impractical due to the fact that we cannot control the render, which leaves the third. What happens to it afterwards is another matter.

OOC:[sblock]Do I know anything about grey renders with a know(arcana) or know(nature) of +7?[/sblock]

*Laynie struggles against Tandi and tries to escape, screaming.*

"Let me go! Let me go! Don't take me! Stop it! Stop it! I don't want that doggie--I want my doggie!"

A'jardin's Knowledge Check:
[SBLOCK]
Sometimes gray renders will bond with a creature or group of creatures and be utterly loyal to those creatures, hunting with them, protecting them and providing for them. It seems that the aggressive render bonded to the orc and the other one has bonded to Laynie.

Cade smiles, nods, and responds in goblin. [Sblock]"They day Take your time, you've been through a lot. I understand if you can't accept my apology yet, but all I can do is offer it.

Now, would you like me to spend time teaching you the Common Tongue? I think you'll find it quite usefull if you are going to be traveling with us."[/sblock]

Cade speaks to A'jardin "Is the render dead? She says it's not, but not sure she's the best source for that information. If it is, it's a fairly easy choice. If not, well, we may have a problem. What do you know about these things?"
