Adventure: Into the Wild

Dante detaches one of his kamas and nicks an angel with it. His two lashing attacks that follow miss the angel he is focused on, however.

OOC: Virgil has 1/2 surges left, not 0/1.

[sblock=Actions]Minor: Quarry G2 angel.
Standard: Throw and Stab:
.Throw: 1d20+12-2=26 AC vs F4, hit, 2d4+4=8 damage.
.And Stab: Dante shifts to I4, 1d20+12-2=21 AC vs G2, miss.
Move->Minor: Off-Hand Strike: 1d20+12-2=21 AC vs G2, miss.
Immediate Interrupt: If an enemy within 5 attacks Dante, he'll use Disruptive Strike: 1d20+12 vs AC, 2d4+8 damage and the enemy takes a -6 penalty to the attack. If Disruptive Strike misses by 4 or less, Dante will use Heroic Effort to make it hit.

Rocco throws his axe as soon as the angels swoop down, but the axe just passes harmlessly through. Thanks to it's magic, it reappears into his waiting hands as he starts his weapon dance. Unfortunately, he isn't used to opponents over his head and all axes swish under or just by the opponents.

"Get the leaders!"

[sblock=Actions]
Readied: RBA vs AC of the angel attacking Rocco; damage (1d20+10=12, 1d6+6=8)

Move: Shift to F3
Standard: Sweeping blow vs AC in order F2, F4 , G2; damage (1d20+12=17, 1d20+12=14, 1d20+12=19, 1d6+9=12) - wow, talk about useless! I needed 14 to hit and this is my most accurate attack - forgot -2 in rolls, but makes no difference

No marking, leave sanction in place

Ashir calls upon the elemental energies to summon a ball of fire above the angels heads, and despite their normal resistance to said elemental energy, Ashir's unique tutelage with Haruka has provided him with a way around this.

The genasi conjures up a images of the angels in flaming torment, forever imprisoned in Thartharus, the eternal prison, that sears their minds and leaves him an opening to spread out.

[sblock=Actions]
Minor: Summon Flaming Sphere @ F2 (altitude 15 ft. I think, 1 square above the angels)
Standard: Enlarged Winged Horde - centered on F3 - vs will (f2, g2, f4, d4) (1d20+10-2=23, 1d20+10-2=19, 1d20+10-2=27, 1d20+10-2=12) Misses D4 angel, the rest hit for fire (1d6+6=10) 10 fire damage (ignore resist) & no opportunity actions allowed.
Move: To K2 (no OA due to Winged Horde)

At Start of turn the f2 & g2 angels take fire (1d4+10=12) 12 fire damage from the Sphere.

Haruka smiles up at the angels as she raises her taloned hand towards them. She whispers, the sound of leaves blowing over stone, and suddenly three of the angels stop moving. Haruka twitches her fingers and the afflicted beings jerk and spasm closer towards the sphere of fire in response. Two of the angels attempt to resist and suffer for it. The third, completely under Haruka's control, drives its sword through the body of one of its companions.

[sblock=actions]So, I'm not entirely sure about how close blasts work in 3D, but I'm assuming a close blast 3 creates a 3x3 cube that needs to touch the cube I occupy.

Standard: Decree of Khirad the cube bound by D2 to F4, one square off the ground. I might catch the Divine Fire depending on where it is, so I'll include it in the rolls. Before the attack, I slide each target 2 squares. The F2 angel stays put, the D4 angel moves to E2, and the F4 angel moves to E3. Both of the ones I moved can stay one square up, placing them in Flaming Sphere range. If I catch the Divine Fire, I'd like it to be slid adjacent to the sphere, and preferably also adjacent to the F2 angel.

So, attack rolls. Miss the angels in F2 and E2, crit the angel in E3, and hit the Divine Fire if it was in range with a 24 vs Will. So the missed angels take 16 psychic damage. The angel in E3 attacks the angel in F2, hitting with a 27 vs AC for 12 damage. If the Divine Fire was in range and is now adjacent to an angel, it attacks said angel but misses with a 14 vs Reflex and takes 12 psychic damage.

Free: Shroud the Divine Fire.

Mal, would it be possible for you to label duplicate enemies in the future? [/sblock]

[sblock=Dante]Didn't see your quarry damage... [/sblock]

[sblock=Rocco]Not sure where that readied action came from, seeing as you lost the initiative, but you missed so it doesn't matter either way.

[sblock=Haruka]The Divine fire was out of range (at range 5, you were doing 3+1)[/sblock]

The heroes furious efforts take their toll and already two of the angels have lost some of their fiercesome mien. It doesn't stop them from counter attacking brutally.

As they scatter over the field, a sudden powerful blast washes over the entire field as a powerful fireball explodes on the decks, causing havoc everywhere. Even one of the angels is singed.

Then the ball of holy fire lands next to Max and wrap him up in flames.

This fight will be vicious, already Ashir and Dante are staggering.

[sblock=Actions]
Remember that the angels are immune to radiant damage which explain why they took no radiant damage when they didn't attack Renquist.

All angels were adjacent to the sphere and take 12 because of the questionable ability of pyromancers to ignore any fire resistance...

Angel 2 shifts then charges ashir
Angel vs Ashir AC (1d20+13+1-2=32, 1d8+6=12) crit, 14dmg

Dante Disrpuptive Strike vs Angel 2 AC (bloodied) (1d20+12=24, 2d4+8=14) hit, the original attack still hit

The other Angels just shift TPL and then Use Blade Furry

1:Haruka 2:Rocco 3:Renquist (1d20+13-2=27, 1d8+6=8, 1d20+13-2=30, 1d4+6=7, 1d20+13-2=14, 1d8+6=10, 1d20+13-2=26, 1d4+6=10, 1d20+13=31, 1d8+6=12, 1d20+13=18, 1d4+6=10)

Hits Haruka twice for 15
Hits Rocco Once for 10
Hits Renquist once for 12

The Cherub

Still at range 10,

Casts a fire ball, area burst 3 centered on H2. It catches everyone, including the angels.

vs reflex 1:Haruka 2:Max 3:Ashir 4:Nementah 5:Renquist 6:Dante 7:Virgil 8:Rocco 9:Angel 1 10:Angel 2 11:Angel 3 12:Angel 4

1d20+12=13, (Angel 3, miss)
1d20+12=22 , (Angel 4, hit)
3d6+6=17

Only first damage applies; 17. Upon rereading my stats, the cherub can exclude 2 allies from the blast; Angel 1 and 2 are the logical choice because they are very battered.

Those missed take 8 dmg except angel 3 who negates it with fire resistance

Those hit take 17 dmg except angel 4 who takes 7.

Rocco attacks both adjacent angels and he even manages to hook one and push him over Haruka toward Virgil.

[sblock=Actions]
Standard: Funneling Fury vs Angel 1 AC; damage; Angel 3 AC; damage (1d20+10=26, 1d6+9=10, 1d20+10-2=14, 1d6+9=15) - slide #1 to H2 on the Quarterdeck. If that is impossible then to F1.

MARK BOTH
[/sblock]

OOC: Mal, readied action from the description as they appeared in post #773
OOC: Move away from the railing, Rocco would hate another dunk. Also, if there is time, Rocco pulls a javelin so he has range rather then ready an axe. If not, keep as is. Ready action remains on first hostility.

Nementah calls upon protective spirits as she did in the rescue operation. Her call to spirit of the trees fails as the wood on the ship is long dead. But water responds eagerly against fiery angels and Nementah, flash-dried Rocco, belaguered Max, intimidating Haruka and brave paladin Renquist are all encased in thin sheet of water. On each hit, small jet of water pushes against the weapon reducing the force of the hit.

Primera remains vigilantly protective over most of the group. She lashes out against closest enemy, protecting trying to fortify those around her.

Ashir draws on his cloak's magic to sustain the flaming sphere so he can attend to other matters. Lightning rushes through his form as the mage draws upon the power of his ancestry. Blast's of lightning erupt in rapid fire succession from the genasi, clipping the closest angel, nearly dropping it from the sky, and slams full into the other enemies.

Ashir then moves his sphere into a more advantageous position, likely to finish off one of the injured angels.

[sblock=Actions]
Free: Sustaining Cloak to sustain the Sphere with no action
Minor: Promise of Storms
Standard: Lightning Bolt - vs ref (angel 2, angel 1, angel 4); lightning damage (incl promise of storms) (1d20+10=17, 1d20+10=29, 1d20+10-2=28, 2d6+10+1d8=19) hits angel 1 for 19 and crits angel 4 for fire (1d6=6) 36 damage (30 lightning, 6 fire which ignores resistance). Angel 2 takes half damage, so 9 damage (1 hp left...damn). Ha! Angel 1 also has 1 hp after Rocco's attack as well...
Move: Sphere to G0 (only catches angel 1) - this will kill it at start of its turn.

At Start of turn the angel 1 takes fire (1d4+10=12) 12 fire damage from the Sphere.
