The brave party continues their relentless attacks, battering the Demon Snake with weapons, arcane and psionic abilities. It looks as though they have this battle won already.
Just then, the serpent's bone-plated skin suddenly splits open with a crack and something fast and slimy shoots out, sliding next to Halleck and Kavac. The party soon realizes that it is the Demon Snake itself who has shed its skin and escaped the group's pincer attack. It now appears slicker, bright green and naked with its new form. It strikes with lightning speed twice, hitting Kavac and biting Halleck in the neck, injecting them with more of its deadly venom.
Brenwar is about to turn his attention to the snake when its left-behind skin suddenly coils around him and begins to squeeze hard, holding him firmly in place and crushing him. The skin, it seems, is also still alive.
